R-Shift gets stuck, new F77 keyboard

I've had my F77 for a while now, and recently I've started to experience something annoying related to the right sift key, sometimes it gets stuck after pressing. I just have to touch it again to get it unstuck, and it shows it's just friction that's preventing it from moving freely like before.

Has anyone experienced this on tis keyboard? How did you solve it? I have lithium grease but I'm not sure if it will help or where to apply it (stabilization hole, stabilization stem, the sleeve that goes around the spring?)

Any help would be much appreciated. I would like to get some advise before proceeding on my own :P

I've experienced it from time to time on various buckling springs boards, it typically means one needs to remove and reinstall the key. It might help to replace the key with another one. I imagine, like me, you have many other bucking spring keyboards complete with compatible shift keys; swap out the key first. That will isolate the key as the problem (or not the problem).

If you don't own other IBM buckling spring keyboards, go on ebay and buy one! One should own at least 10 IBM keyboards.

I decided to try my luck and added some silicon based grease to the stabilization stem. cleaned the excess and left a thin layer.
That seems to have fixed the issue (it was present on all keys I tried. I used my Unicomp Model M and a spare shift key I purchased some time ago so it seems to be an issue within the keyboard. Probably the sleeve that surounds the stem is faulty or I damaged when I installed it)

I use the same grease on my yoyos (Danco 80360 waterpfood grease), so I am confident it will not wreck havock on the keyboard (won't destroy plastic and won't leak since it's very thick and I used very little anyway)

I do want another buckling spring keyboard but I can't justify it to my wife :P I would love to try a beam spring keyboard too... but, well... wife haha.
Thanks for the suggestion Mr. Lion. I will keep my spare shift key nearby just in case.

Glad you have been getting good use out of your F77! Please take a look at the recently updated manual on the project website - the wiggle method, combined with burnishing the back of the stem with a fingernail, usually fixes these issues.

Thanx Ellipse. I will :D

Update:
From the manual: Do not sand away parts of the keycap, add lubrication, or do anything else on your own as it is unnecessary
Me after saying I aded lubrication: :-|

But it's good to see the manual addresses the issue. It didn't occured to me to check the manual which should be my first choice

The good thing is I still have a spare shift key... you know, just in case.
Maybe I should buy another model F ... you know, just in case hahaha

Be careful, my friend. Just my 122-key M-platform keyboards number in the double digits. That doesn't include other M-platform keyboards, or Model Fs. BS keyboards can become an obsession.
