Tipro MID 128 RS232 Module

Hey,

I'm looking to interface my recently acquired MID 128 keyboard with a piece of radio broadcast software for a local community/student radio station (the software is called Zetta made by RCS). It has the ability to communicate with the keyboard as a GPIO device with either a pre-configured Preh/Tipro profile or using basic RS232 commands.

But the problem comes for the fact I only managed to get the basic version of the keyboard without the built in RS232 module, any idea on where I could get a hold of one? or where to begin developing a small micro-controller device to convert the PS2/MID commands to RS232? (I can only find the opposite conversion online)

I had and have quite an amount of Tipro MID keyboards, but have never even seen one with the RS232 socket at the rear (I take it this is what you are talking about).

For the rest, I'm afraid I am too much of a computer noob to really understand your problem at all,
but after having taken a (short) look at the Zetta help file, I think the way I would do it is simply
program the keyboard with the shortcuts provided in the "Command mapping" tab in the software.

I found some data sheet that help explain what i mean but perhaps im misinterpreting them;

It's possible I could use the command mapping but I'd prefer to use the keyboard as a GPIO device so that I can avoid any key press confusion (if say the presenter had a browser window active as appose to zetta.

Even if you had a controller with RS232 capability, obviously you would still need the cable ("MID-ARA") described in the second document linked.
Mission impossible, I would say.

If I understand you correctly (remember I'm a computer noob), a RS232 connection would recognize which program is active.
There might be a workaround for this if that's the reason why you are looking for RS232.

It sounds to me like there is a general misunderstanding here. How would this keyboard communicate via RS232?

This is _NOT_ a terminal keyboard!

The RS232 connection has the sole purpose of programming the Tipro keyboards on a very basic communication level in case the PS/2 programming fails. Since Tipro ChangeMe Software overutilized the PS/2 interface to program the Tipro Modules (thus giving so many problems with USB adapters and PS/2 notebooks) they had to have a solution at hand to program the modules without a native PS/2 port.
