Someone wanted some photos.

I recommend to make WYSE clones instead. The colors are similar and SP did the originals, so no problem for them to do 'em again.
WYSE colors are a bit nicer. The light grey and grey are too similar on the type 5c.

I agree with that, although I like that.
Mine with the DE layout however features the Control in its regular IBM position. Is you caps lock illuminated down there 7bit? Too bad these don't have nice switches...

Yes, there are LEDs in.

So they definitely exist in two versions, Linux/Unixlike and IBM/PC/Windows.

Those are domes, right?

Lovely color and typeface on the keycaps.

Am I the only one that think these look too "sharp"?

Rubber domes by Fujitsu. The key caps are somewhat compatible with other Fujitsu-made keyboards.
I like that the key caps are sharp. This is one of the most beautiful keyboards ever made, in my opinion.

I'm also interested in these. Can a Type 6 keyboard be used in Windows as well?
Completely ignorant when it comes to Sun Keyboards in general. Please excuse my utter newbness here.
Can anyone direct me to a site that explains in detail what version(s) of Sun keyboards that can be easily used in Windows?

The Sun Type 6 has USB, so it can be used with a Windows PC. It is built different and is not good-looking at all, but it has mostly the same layout.
The Sun Type 5 seen here runs an old Sun protocol. I have seen on the web schematics and open source firmware for a PC-compatible controller as well as a protocol converter for sale in a Japanese online store, but sadly, I did not bookmark these links, sorry.

More Sun Solaris like

true. I remember when I first had to work with what probably was a late SPARC or an early ULTRA station with ~Solaris 7 and CDE back in the days...felt so lost coming from WIN95 then.
Probably typed on a 5c then, can't remember.
For those interested, here's how they look like inside:

converter for PC use projects I dug up when I thought about my unit, some abandoned, some with obsolete Hardware though:

I’m surprised to see that it has a seperate dome for each key, though I suppose that would explain why it doesn’t feel crappy.
I’m trying to resist hunting down one of the *nix layout ones. I need to have a clear-out and get used to ANSI before I buy anything else.

Thanks for the photos 7bit!
Still thinking about making a GB for these. Not sure if I want to use SP for it since I don't like the recent quality of their caps at all. But if you say they did the originals (which I can hardly believe) I guess SP would be the better option instead of QWERKeys for those. Also not sure how accurate QWERKeys could copy the set with their engrave/enfill method.
What do you guys think?

I do think 7bit meant that SP did the WYSE caps OEM, not the Sun ones.
Apart from that: Do you plan to answer my pm which was a reply to your sparse inquiry about my 5c?
edit: ftr: type 5c boards come with some sort of proprietary connector, size of PS2 but without centering stem inside and 8pin connector instead.

I bought my usb one to see if I liked the HHKB/Sun type/UNIX layout. It's now just in a closet. The thing is horrible.

Was it a 5c? was it custom converted? The sun sparc 5 had the din plug but I didn't know of one with usb. The sun 6 I think had one.

No, it was a 6c. Sorry for the confusion.

They did the original WYSE key caps, which are similar to the Sun keyboard style (I don't wonder much about that, BTW).

Wait, those sun boards actually are something special? I’ve seen so many of those

They are not special (rubberdomes). Just the Sun logo on them makes them special.

They do feel good for a rubber dome.

Some say yes, I think no. But as I said mine is a 6c.

I don't know much about the construction of the 6c, is it the same on the insides as the 5c in the photos? (If you're happy to open it mind)

Yeah, will do it later today.
