I've got saved searches for AEKs, that's the first half decent one that's come up for a while though.

Anyone got an ANSI US AEK II, or a European based eBay link, for sth? I picked up one in Germany, from a guy who sold 3 that day. But it was NIB and I ain't parting with it for a donor!
ahem,
i like some of the caps on that board and they are not available on ANSI US AEK. :x lemme do what i want with it :x :x :x

parts were meant to be used, not hoarded in boxes :x

and any time i harvest parts from a keyboard i keep everything else in tact in case someone with a collecting habit might want it when i'm done with it, so it can be reassembled 8-)

oh cool so is someone going to try and outbid me 9 days in advance for a dirty keyboard missing a switch because i want to actually put the parts to good use in a keyboard i will use every day? :x

7bit did it last time, I think. Which means it was rigged!

This is my inner excuse for not joining: the high danger of getting more MX stuff. Unlike the surprise box (which I am in on again) secret Santa is all or nothing.

Someone around here will surely have an ANSI AEK they don't need and isn't pristine. Someone who is not me!

well i have one set of caps on the way for one of two AEK60s.

i would specifically like to get my hands on an EU ANSI qwerty layout for my second because the modifiers are different (symbolic instead of text).

and it seems people have a rather low opinion of repurposing parts of unused electronics for the purpose of celebrating the legacy of said electronics and not letting them sit around on a shelf or in a box doing nothing :x

but i dont mean to derail this thread too much more than i already have

AEK2 is a common keyboard. Not rare whatsoever. You're brown Alps sth, those are RARE. But you already know that. I have a high level restraint against hoarding boxed keyboards, but if something is very rare and NIB I will not mess with it.

well it's been surprisingly hard to find a qwerty ANSI euro aek2, and even the aek2s i HAVE found online (ebay etc) cost a lot, plus they come from far away so shipping is expensive.
one of the reasons i miss living in oakland - finding AEK2s in the bay area is so easy you can do it by accident.

That AEKII is awesome seebart. Are the Cyrillic characters pad printed or dye sublimated?

Oakland CA? I'm sure one can build a tasty KB collection there for little $.

It's been months since I looked at it ramnes, and as Mu will tell you I am no good at pinpointing cap printing. Sorry, I'll get it out and shoot some better pictures sometime. Then we can play...spot the cap printing.

Seller abusing MX Blacks as a keyword, it's a G81 and has MY switches. No case swap either, can see the plate.

Yeah, it looks like it just needs to be dusted off. The seller has the whole IBM 3270 PC system:

There's plenty to go around. And that's just eBay UK!

Those AEK II links are all from America. You can tell by the fact shipping pushes the whole lot north of £50. Then add European customs fees. Easily talking $100 to get your hands on any of them. Forget about it!

You need to set your own location as some place in Europe to see the truth. Simply visiting eBay.co.uk etc. does not alter ebay's understanding of your location. When I visit eBay.com, everything is insanely expensive too!

Ah, shit. The more I know, I guess. It could be worse, though. All the AEK IIs could be in North Korea!

SCAMbay does not care from where you are shopping, as long as you pay the SCAMfees.
