Alright, so I've been using single-piece caps from my F122 on my M for a little while now ('bout a week), just switched back to the original M caps... the F caps did make it noticeably smoother. It's not a huge difference though, to echo what folks have been saying here.

Had to give mine to HaaTa's Teletypewriter. That lighting is just marvellously striking.

I've got an M and an F122 that's up on metaphorical blocks. I'll give this a try tomorrow and report back.

Just dish soap and water. Dawn, I think. Either Dawn or Sunlight. Dried it with a towel and gave it a few days to air dry.

No pretreatment. Just washed the case down a couple days prior, then straight to the painting. I did allow it a full week to dry on my coffee table before using it.

I tried Krylon fusion on my M, actually. It looked amazing when the paint was still fresh, but unfortunately it didn't take long at all before it started to wear and chip off - right where my wrist sits when I'm playing games. Ended up stripping it off with brake fluid. The cable didn't fare much ...

However, in the appaling photos, they look a bit yellow so could be that someone swapped them for some ABS at some point. That said, you can't really tell anything from those photos :)

PBT can be yellowed from other sources, too, IIRC. Cigarette smoke comes to mind, but ...

Yeah, that's another thing; my F122 and 3180 combo shipped across the border for the same amount ($80 US), and it came with... well, a 3180. And it wasn't through the GSP. So I guess what I really (don't) love is when people have jacked-up shipping costs.

83 bucks (US) to bring it over the border.

I love it when people don't use the global shipping program.

Well, do you like the AEK as a platform? Do you like it more than you do other Alps keyboards? How hard would it be to find a new Alps keyboard where the shipping won't kill it?

Always think practically, it makes these decisions much easier.

The earliest Model M122s do have stepped modifiers, like these ones:

It's not uncommon. But, I don't think I have ever seen an F122 or M122 with a mix of stepped and non-stepped modifiers. AFAIK, F122s never had non-stepped modifiers.

That almost certainly actually is an F122, BTW. I've never seen an M122 with stepped modifiers, and I would be very surprised if this turned out to be the first, especially considering that it's in a lot of various other Model Fs.

You can also get 4 or 5 other SSDs around the 1TB mark for nearly the same price. Samsung has good drives, but these are used and any potential warranty is probably gone.

You really can't. Cheapest 1TB SSDs on the market right now sit at the $200 mark. On the off chance that you're talking about ...

IMO it'd be a shame to not use it.
