alrighty, here's the ordered matrix :)

i think i'll omit the red columns (upper row) and try to integrate col 5 into col 34 (if that's not already the case anyway), then i'll have exactly the 18 pins that the pro micro has without desoldering the leds.

one more (probably stupid) question though ...

u and z keys are pin 31, not 30 ...

you're right, the u's lower leg should be pin 31 instead of 30! there are probably some more errors, i thought i'd iron them out as i go.

i simply numbered the pins from left to right, first row 1,2,..10, second row 11,12,..20 and so on until 40 on the lower right ...

i actually went back there today, but there wasn't much left to salvage. as i said, the typewriter itself was in a really bad condition and i'm quite happy i got all (?) the caps.. but i think you were right, the futaba pictures from the wiki look a lot like mine. thanks for your help!

Fujitsu used weird protocols, the only FLS board I know that is easily convertible is the Tandy 3000 keyboard which is XT.

That's some dumpster find! :o We need more pics of those cyan Omrons when you have time PLZ! That second keyboard looks a lot like my Unitech K959, plate mounted vintage MX blacks, pretty sweet.

huh, really? i was pretty disappointed by the MY switches. i mean sure, the fat keycaps are really nice, but the board itself..
i happen to have a highscreen-branded G81-3081 SAD lying around, would that be worth something as well?

update. no luck with the power led, but the rest of the leds and all but six of the keys are working now. i think i'll just desolder the numpad keys and use the switches to fill up the rest of the non-working keys.
on a side note, i opened all the letter switches, lubed them and removed the clicker ...

btw, could anyone point me to a good tutorial on how to repair a dead alps switch? the ones i've found are either 404'd or have missing pictures.. i've cleaned the switches with compressed air and the metal contact plates with alcohol, but no luck so far..

omg!! it's alive! i rewired it to try out all the possible combinations one more time, and suddenly KEYPRESSES!! woooohooo!! a few keys aren't registering, but if i connect the pins manually, the controller picks them up! caps and scroll leds are dead as well, but aside from that, it IS an ok ...
