But it is still just a matter of implementation how flexible HID codes and modifiers can be mapped to different or the same layers in custom firmwares.
For example, I'm using special characters that do require AltGr, Shift or no modifiers on German qwertz host OS all on one layer, but without ...

Ich würde dir ja dringend AdNW als neues Layout ans Herz legen - meiner Meinung nach eine deutliche Verbesserung gegenüber Neo2 für Deutsch und Englisch!

Re: Another MX / Trackpoint project
I guess you could use the 3 different PS/2 implementations in parallel with TMK. At least the trackpoint works on either of them with selected pins, and I see no compelling reason why the teensy should not be able to handle another device.

True, but as enlarging the squares with a sharp knife by scraping the edges is a very fast method of getting a good fit despite any building process tolerances I'd rather design them a little smaller than needed in the end - an old habit from my woodworking days I guess...

AFAIK 1.5mm thickness and 14x14mm² for a switch cutout is the spec, although for 3D-printed frames I use 13.85mm for a tighter fit.

Can you provide some input on how the TrackPoint stalk performs when it's between that set of keys? ... Does it interfere with regular typing or is it difficult to move because it's embedded in those caps?

Two complete days of typing on the latest "BlackBowl" creation and I must say I'm overly excited with it. Ironed out the last couple of I2C bugs and put on some caps [*] to finally test drive that new baby - very nice albeit a little strange to type on, did not figure rotated rows would make such a difference. Seems a faster serial connection (or a reduction to only 16 keys per side  ) could have ...

I find it much easier to compare them when the surface area at your fingertip is larger and the stem edges don't distract. But I'd say the individual differences are about as noticable as without. As I mentioned it is the very uniform feeling even when hit off-center that is much more apparent now ...

And of course I couldn't resist to file off the bottom of a stem bearing, which seemed to have been the part the switch bottoms out with as it increased key travel by 0.6 mm.

I am typing on this right now, and sometimes I accidentally touch the pin, which - due to my miserable hacking skills - activates another layer with k,l and i as mousebuttons.

I wonder if suka's plastic solution is rigid enough, I don't want my trackpoint to move...
The extensions I recently build for the HyperMicro work fine here: even without an internal metal pin the slight dampening can be overcome easily with fine-tuned trackpoint firmware settings.
