Re: What is the Lightest, Highest Actuating, Clicky Switch?

Zeal Clickiez has a really harsh bottom out. As someone who has tried Box Navies and also regularly bottoms out with most switch types I thought it wouldn't bother me, and while they feel satisfying to type on, the harsh bottom out gets tiring pretty quick. I still prefer Alps SKCM, buckling springs ...

Re: What is the Lightest, Highest Actuating, Clicky Switch?

How effective are modern click-bar switches at all this? And what else am I overlooking? Don't tell me I must get into Omrons !

I have a Costar CSK-1101S in clean condition filled with Omrons and they consistently actuate well before the tactile click, which is really a shame cause they ...

Re: Great/Interesting Finds

Here's a much cleaner and more reasonably priced one.

Do vintage ergo boards of the rubber dome or foam and foil versions really have that much of a price premium? While I still need to try foam and foil and dome with slider switches I can't see myself coughing up that much dough for those ...

Re: IDENTIFY THE KEYBOARD thread

Another two I can't 100% sure what they are. The latter is obviously a Cherry RS 3000 (a.k.a. Cherry G83-3000 apparently?) but I would like to know if it has interesting switches or how to tell the difference in switch/rubber dome from these pictures. I saw somebody comment about the homing bars ...

Re: IDENTIFY THE KEYBOARD thread

Oh that looks exactly the same as the DEC. Doesn't look like a Wyse based on the keycaps too unfortunately.

Re: IDENTIFY THE KEYBOARD thread

No worries! Any photos of the Olivetti? The Olivetti while it has the same or similar layout as the DEC board could actually be a rebranded wyse with the same layout and Cherry MX Black switches so that's actually a lot more interesting then the DEC itself.

Here's a few threads discussing the ...

Re: Post your keyboard/keycaps!

Ahh ok thanks for confirming the presence of clips, I'll give it a try, won't hurt to try as long as the clips aren't too stiff. Interesting that they have a function for the f7 key as well.

Re: Post your keyboard/keycaps!

So I tried checking the firmware on my Windows 10 pc through both a Tinkerboy converter and a din-5-ps/2 to active ps/2-usb converter. While the output was still fast on both, the output through active ps/2-usb converter was noticeably slower. Slow enough that I could read the revision on mine as 1 ...

Re: Post your keyboard/keycaps!

Thank you for scanning and posting the manual! I'll give that a closer look soon. But you've answered one of our questions, explaining what the I and N meant.

I've had several of my Northgates almost since new, so I'm 99 percent certain that they didn't put bar codes on the ones they sold. Note ...

Pretty sure it’s mechanical.
It's a Keytronic board, so it's either foam and foil or rubber dome. Interesting but overpriced imo.

Re: Post your keyboard/keycaps!

Very nice find, thanks for sharing! At least part of the reason for the good sound is that those are early white Alps switches. Alps made changes as time went on, and most folks who have tried the different versions including myself prefer the earliest ones. It would be interesting to compare this ...

Re: Explain like I'm 5: Remap a key with a Soarer's converter

Thank you, Wolfi; I also found your explanation useful.

Anytime! Glad it was helpful!

Many keyboards do in fact report the same ID. Off the top of my head: AB83 is often the one. Conditional logic based on that won't work well in many cases.

Fortunately, Soarer has higher level functions to ...

Re: Explain like I'm 5: Remap a key with a Soarer's converter

I'd advise instead of dropping your config file on scaswr.bat—which won't explain your errors?—try running scas yourself if you're at all comfortable with the command line. It'll tell you where you went wrong (we all do, sometimes) and what line number.

My experience with soarer's has only been ...

Re: Explain like I'm 5: Remap a key with a Soarer's converter

Ok so I assume you're lost and don't know where to begin, so i'm just gonna layout all the steps to remap/reprogram your soarer's converter.

Also keep in mind that I am using Windows 10, the process for Windows 11 should be the same though as far as I know.

First you're gonna have to download ...

Thanks! The feel of the White Alps in the Omnikey is far nicer compared to my 2 other white alps board, despite one also looking immaculate like the Omnikey. Gotta refrain from using it heavily though to preserve the Omnikey.

Re: Post your keyboard/keycaps!
