Re: Weird NEC Keyboard with weird interface

Probably something like I'm doing in https://deskthority.net/viewtopic.php?f=2&t=2492 would do the trick. Most of it is just time consuming, but I'm still not 100% on everything I'm doing, so YMMV :D.

NEC blue ovals are nice switches.

I can’t see what ya linked there, but this would only be ...

The NEC PC-98 is listed, so I would guess that it is that. Maybe the older PC-88 series used the same keyboard connector. The PC-8801 keyboard here has a similar-looking angled connector anyway.

Weird NEC Keyboard with weird interface

Hey! I posted about this NEC Keyboard I got for a good deal on eBay a little while ago, and it’s finally here! For some reason, I assumed it would use a standard 5-pin din connector, given it was made in ‘87, but this is not the case. It uses an 8-pin mini din connector that I have not seen before ...

If you're still looking for a blue oval, that is. PS/2 connector. $80, ATM.

I find that keyboard in EpikalPuppy's post interesting because of the lack of keys. And I think that's either ...

Re: Another NEC Blue Oval board

They're interesting switches. I have a NEC 412, but far from pristine. That one looks like it has never been used. Keyboards get exponentially more rare as you go back in time. The explosion of IBM clone parts and systems in the late '80s made that stuff available to everyone. But prior to that ...

Re: Another NEC Blue Oval board

I was browsing eBay for NEC blue oval keyboards as I don’t actually have one yet, and came across a listing with a strangely high price for a keyboard I can’t find any more information on. It’s kind of a weird layout, I’m not super informales, but it has aspects of an XT layout with some weird ...

Re: Issues with IBM Model F "Bigfoot" keyboard from Teensy USB mod

1. Do you o ow for sure what keyboard you have? Model M or Model F?
2. What do you get when you use HID listen?

It's a Bigfoot Model F, one of the earlier terminal keyboards. HID listen will rapidly scroll with different key inputs when I hit a key. I'm confident the issue is with the keyboard ...

Re: Issues with IBM Model F "Bigfoot" keyboard from Teensy USB mod

I'd also check if you slided the backplate all the way into position. If the flippers are somehow misaligned it could also cause extra keystrokes.

I thought about this, but it was having this behavior before I disassembled it the first time, and I could tell that it had never been disassembled ...

In addition, I'm wondering if there is a better place to go for troubleshooting tips. Thank you!

Issues with IBM Model F "Bigfoot" keyboard from Teensy USB mod

Hello! Recently I got a free IBM terminal from Craigslist that came with a "Bigfoot". I immediately disconnected it from the terminal and went about putting together a USB converter using a Teensy. This is the first time I've done something like this, so I used this guide to do it. I'm confident ...

Re: [WTB] Reasonably Priced ALPS SKCM Blue Keyboard

If you can't find a blue Alps board for what you want to pay may I suggest an early white Alps board instead? Early white SKCM switches from 1989-90 sound and feel the same as blue SKCM, at least to some of us. You won't have the vanity and bragging rights of blues, but you will have a very nice ...

[WTB] Reasonably Priced ALPS SKCM Blue Keyboard

I have been looking for a keyboard with ALPS SKCM Blue switches for a while now, but with people on eBay being generally unhelpful when I ask them to pop a keycap and a lot of conflicting information out there, I figured I'd come here. I'm interested in any decent keyboard with blue switches, PM me ...

People have managed to make the Wyse 50 work with a modern computer. You can read about using Soarer's controller and see how Chyros connected his.
Ok! I'll take a look!

Rebadged WYSE keyboard with Cherry Switches

Hello! I'm new here, and I wanted my first post to be about one of the very few keyboards I currently have, a WYSE terminal keyboard that appears to have been rebadged for a local medical company, CPSI. The keyboard has double-shot keys with blue characters, uses Cherry MX Black switches, and it is ...
