Re: First “real” computer keyboard?

The Lincoln Keyboard (the rather unique keyboard of the Lincoln Writer, the terminal built for the TX-2 in 1959) incorporated a pair of those Soroban keyboard mechanisms, stacked one in front of the other ("The keyboard is actually two separate Soroban coding keyboards mounted on the same block."—p ...

Re: Tellervision GP101 keyboard review (Alps SKBM White)

Is there an accepted name for keyboards like this, the Datalux Space Saver/MEI T-15 and the Lincoln Keyboard which are laid out like two separate keyboards, each of 4 or 5 or so rows, stacked one in front of the other?

Re: Unshifted parentheses

LISP and LISP Machines

Mostly a matter of trading off ()[] for []{} . Which also means that the keycaps have both.

Note that the Knight keyboard only had shifted parens. Same for the standard ...

Re: Sun Microsystems Type 4

A very similar-looking but not identical board has just shown up on eBay, being sold as NOS:

It seems to be either a different variant of the Type 4, or a third-party replacement for one. Some more images:

1990 Chicago Tribune article on keyboards interviewing Key Tronic, Northgate and IBM managers

I found this 1990 Chicago Tribune article about PC keyboards by chance. [EDIT: try archive.is if the link doesn't work for you.] I searched and it doesn't seem to have been mentioned here previously so I mention it now. Sorry if I missed earlier discussions of it! Possibly interesting things include ...

It looks like it's a rebranded Datacomp with Futaba MA. Those keycaps are extremely distinctive, and I haven't seen them on anything else yet.

I did have the right thread, excellent. :D

But yes, thank you, it seems to be something very close to the DFK-777F in the wiki or the DFK-700FI that ...

Keyboard for left-handed people :?:

The 108 version is quite Lovely and I'm a Right Hander ;) .

It's really a keyboard for right-handed people, because the Model M is a keyboard for left-handed people. 35 years ago, when most MS-DOS users had scarcely heard of a mouse, the Model M was a ...
