Aaah this warms my heart! Congratulations. I can still remember fantasizing about owning one, about writing programs with one. I suppose it's the sort of thought a young athlete might have, `` Gosh if I could just get those Nike Pumps I know I could dunk. '' ...and the real Lisp hacker secret is see...

I would tell only one more thing, and it maybe leans towards what snackthecat said (which is wise!): you should first and foremost take care of yourself (in every way), be able to think clear etc. and it's way more important than any romantic interests. [I fully endorse what chuckledee just wrote ab...

Read this book if you can get it. May also help you get some healthy distance to your situation. If I were (reluctantly *cough*) advising someone being 17 and in your situation, I would suggest 1) deleting/destroying all your stalking materials now and not talking about it again 2) not ever making t...

Isn't vinegar supposed to remove rust? Maybe it just made the corrosion more apparent, and maybe easier to remove mechanically? I reached for my knowledge stash and found this guide , also Chyros mentions in one of his videos using a magic potion for Amstrad springs. Apparently it's just a...

IBM model M's non-working keys diagnostics
So recently I buried among my lengthy ramblings and impressions ( :P ) a problem and a question: 'e' and 'i' alternate between not working and chattering when I hit them harder. I connected the "clock" wire somewhat suboptimally, but all the other keys work fine, except for the right arrow and 'z' w...

... this keyboard's high ctrl keys have me holding my wrists in a somewhat non-ergonomic position and it's already starting to create a little stiffness. Do you mean "feels comfortable" by "ergonomic"? The "official" ergonomic position is to keep your palms free floating well above the keyboard wit...

Now I'm waiting for my DIN sockets to arrive. The seller said that they are indeed 240 degrees... I hope. Of course the plan B is to cut the cable and connect wires directly to the Arduino. But this would be destructive and I would rather not do that 8-) This big metal IBM plug wouldn't forgive me....

Could I just unplug the DIP switch entirely and expect the board to somehow work? Yes, I have always just unplugged those modules and discarded them. Soarer's firmware will make allowance and, for me at least, has always worked immediately. Caveat: I have always used name brand Teensy breakout boar...

Setting terminal model M's DIP switch "correctly"
Hello everyone, I'm in the middle (hopefully) of a "restoration"... actually getting to work... process and I thought I could get some advice from the elders. I grabbed an IBM model M terminal version. I love big keyboards with lots of function keys; I already own a 1987 Cherry MX Black Nixdorf thin...
