Despite both being tactile MX switches, Browns and Clears are worlds apart.
Even comparing different flavors of MX switch can be like apples and oranges...

The wiki has brown down as tactile. Does this mean that brown has been used for both tactile and linear?

Here's what they remind me of- the not-so-popular SMK switches Apple sometimes used in the M0487 I think.

It's a rubber dome over membrane. The realforce in rubberdome over capasative switch. It's what makes it good and reliable.

I generally prefer the Cherry Corp stabilizers, but I totally understand why the costar style seems to be more popular. With costar, you can't even tell there's a stabilizer there. They add like, no friction.. I can see the value of that.

Hope the MX yellow has a "middle-of-the-road" spring. Something in between the two they use now. Would make for tons more combinations for modders to go all googly-eyed over.

I suspect the same with brown and black switches: older, unused switches are a bit lighter than new switches. This is just from experience.

Speaking only for BLUE switches, I gotta admit that the older ones were nicer.

1989 West German made G80-1800 w/Blues (NIB)
2009 Czech made G80-3000 w/Blues (NIB)
Appearance-wise, the only difference is the shade of blue; the vintage ...

I never skimp on archival boxes.Spending an extra 25 cents per box and you are left with storage that will seriously last.
I go through a local box recycler. They're a bit more pricey, but I gotta support the local economy when possible.

Could you use a metal plate from an old keyboard? For instance, I have a couple old WYSE terminal 'boards from the 80's with plate-mounted black MX swtiches. You could find something similar on the cheap.
