Maybe they had tall switchplates that just lacked pigmentation? I don't know much about those details. My blue alps Monterey K2AX is from early 89 and those have tall white plates though.

That looks like one mighty dirty Sejin Electron / SKM-1030. It looks a lot more like that board than the Omron board you linked to. It's a nice board/switch if you can get it back to usable condition and bring the switches back to life.

To add a serious recommendation instead of more MX Brown bashing (though I don't like them much either) - if you can get your hands on one, I'd really recommend trying a tactile space invader board.
