Because I've been asked whether certain key caps we will order from Unicomp are 2-piece key caps or 1-piece key caps, I wonder where is the difference?

On my 1989 model M, all 1 unit keys are 2 piece and most of the modifiers (the larger ones) are single piece.

Is there any issue to place a single piece key cap made by Unicomp on a model F made in 1985. or are they all interchangeable no matter how old or young they are?

No issues.

There's a lot of myth. You know, the guys who prefer the vintage two pieces. IMO they don't feel better. The only reason they are two piece is to make them relegendable. Logically, one could argue that a two piece cap is inferior because it's less stable. In any case, I don't feel any difference, and they are interchangeable.

I always thought so, just did never try myself.

Now as some asked, I was unsure.
