Keyboard with permanent keycaps

Hi all,

Does anyone know of keyboards with non-removable keycaps? Something that kids wouldn't be able to mess with. I know there are vandal-proof keyboards but they seem to be quite pricey, £180+, mainly because they're also weather proof and industrial. Also it doesn't need to be mechanical.

Thanks for any info,
Chris

Never heared of such a keyboard.
Concidering how hard it is to remove a keycap with bare hands, a drop of superglue should do the trick!
If you want to be on the safe side, I'd use two component epoxy glue.

You could buy a dell at102w (verry cheap), Alps keycaps are pure horror to remove, they naturally fit verry tight but with a drop of glue into the slider hole, it should be impossible to remove. They are also build like a tank and have a backplate, it should be impossible for a kid to rip out the caps.

just get those encased rubber membrane keyboards. horrible to type on but fairly indestructible for kids. spill resistant and no keys to remove. dirt cheap, too.

i would say glue on an alps would be the way to go you would pull the slider out of the switch before you could remove the cap , alps are hard enough to get off on there own.

Glue the switch case together, if you're doing Alps.

Don't ask me how I know this. OK, if you must... I once had a Alps switch where the keycap stayed in the slider so tightly that the slider pulled the case apart before it released the keycap.

That said, if I were gluing things... Plate mount Cherry MX. Much less risk of glue getting inside, much more surface area for the keycap to glue to.

Poor Alps keyboard … if you have an Alps keyboard that you're going to tip glue into, do it a favour and give it to one of us instead.

Kids who are going to be that destructive are best off left with some rubbish rubber dome anyway.

Edit: I know! NMB dome with slider. Glue those.
