Incredible photo source

002 tracked down the source of some nice NMB Hi-Tek photos over at KBDMania, to this Korean website:

http://cafe.naver.com/sfkey.cafe?iframe ... oardtype=I

That category above includes such gems as a Sony Micro Switch Hall effect keyboard (with blue, red and black switches), and the first instance of a custom space bar Futaba clicky switch (MX mount), which is grey instead of white. It's a bit of a pain to navigate as it's all in Korean, but there's a lot of incredible photos there. This guy is amazing.

It would be nice to have these photos for our wiki, but the full-size originals, as the ones posted are fairly small. KBDMania are apparently already using our wiki for a reference, so it's not not a possibility …

When I get a spare moment I plan to troll the whole collection for new information.

Ah scarface. I can ask him for permission if you like. I still got his contact details when I bought his famous metal caps some years ago. He knows some basic English.

Ahh wish I knew that earlier. I already sent two PMs to Korean members here asking if they could get his permission :)

Technically, if he joined DT, it's not actually against the photo competition rules for him to post his full-size photos to our wiki … (they just need to be new to the wiki — they don't need to be freshly-taken photos)

^ Dreamer. Hopefully he will give permission to use photos he posted elsewhere, if we're lucky a zip or something with full-size originals. Btw, if you ever need to send a Korean a forum link, add &nlang=ko to the url if you think his English is bad. This at least makes it a bit more friendly to navigate.

OK, the site is impenetrable. No Google Translate (Google can't access it), no copy/paste, save to disc then open fails (empty page), viewing HTML in a text editor gives mojibake (Korean codepage my text editors can't read), completely broken copy/paste with JavaScript disabled when reading local copy (the site is dead without it) … (daemonraccoon has got into it, but at this stage I'm giving up protest)

This guy can go shove something vicious and putrid up his arse. I'm not pulling this abomination of a website apart trying to get any info out of it, not considering that they've gone to more lengths than those thought humanly possible to stop anyone non-Korean from using it.

If he wants to post some pictures on the wiki, fine.

Even charming him like that might not convince him.

You might consider that posting to the dt wiki for him is the same as posting to the kbdmania wiki for you. Although I bet his English is better than your Korean. Also I forgot what it is you wanted. Do you like his photos and do you want them in the wiki, or do you want him to post on a foreign wiki because you don't fancy his html/javascript artistry? I fail to see his obligations to the rest of the world in the latter. He's just a guy enjoying his hobby and sharing with some other guys in country. That site existed before gh and dt.

And you should blame your lousy text editor for not supporting MS949 and giving mojibake instead.
And I can read his images just fine with firebug. :evilgeek:

I don't want to charm him any more. I just wanted the pics, but I'm not even interested any more, as I'm so hacked off with that abhorrent website. I can't use the site as a personal reference for information without ripping it to pieces to tear out the text little bit at a time, and I can't send anyone else to it as a wiki reference as it's not able to be subjected to Google Translate, unlike Sandy, Alps.tw, MouseFan etc. I can't for example describe the pictures as I don't know what he's saying about them. It's unusable to anyone outside of Korea — it's everything our wiki does NOT stand for, and it can go and die in a fire.

Select the url for a page from the referring link, not the url you're redirected to.
E.g.
http://cafe.naver.com/ArticleRead.nhn?c ... cles=false

You can use this in google translate as well if you copy&paste such a url.

that sony microswitch keyboard is from the 1970's so we can't tell the properties of the switch, as the model number isn't printed on the top conveniently (as it is with the post 1979-1981 "modern" microswitch HE keyswitches). I like how the LED keys are used

Here's the URL for anyone interested: http://cafe.naver.com/sfkey/69

As you can see, the URL for each page is printed at the topright.
http://i.imm.io/1i5lU.png

I tried same other ones, but naver wants me to login, so it isn't really easy to view non public pages. I was hoping for hidden keyboards but no such luck.

edit: looks likxe we can ad another spacebar to the list of spacebars with legends. It might be doubleshot, like that other one.

edit, for quick and easy translating on google, you can just update the article number in the URL, though pictures did not always work, this is what browser tabs are for

he has some excellent macro photos of switches. The futabas in #354 are very clear to see how they work.

edit: wow cherry keyboard with MX browns and pre mx switches on it?

The pre-MX switches are the very rare fully enclosed [wiki]Cherry M8[/wiki] — most M8 switches (German and Japanese) are the lower-profile open type. Those M8 photos are gorgeous, and we barely have any photos of M8 at all on the wiki.

The Futaba photos are also superb, but it looked like he'd put the actuator spring upside down in one of the photos, and neither he nor alps.tw has actually done a proper job at depicting how those things go together. They're really complicated and hard to follow (and sadly it seems like they don't work as well as you'd hope, considering the over-engineering and unique design).

The LPFK has fully enclosed M8's with LED, I posted pictures of mine here a while ago. You guys can put whatever you want out of my imgur on your wiki. I'll upload better picture of you like. Not as good as scarface's photos though.
