Cherry G81 with aritifical stone case

Found the keyboard on a flea market.
The case is made of artificial stone. Where little rock pieces are glued together again (you find that kind of stone in bathroom sinks a lot).
Weigth: 8,4kg

It has the early version of Cherry MY switches and doubleshot keycaps.

Lol this is really cool. How do the LEDs look when turned on? They look like they'd be tricky to see from an angle.
How is it it all held in? Is there a plate on the bottom so you can take the PCB etc out?

Impressive! A keyboard for the granite 1990s executive washroom if I ever saw it. (Jokes about Cherry MY's natural suitability for that environment withheld, or quite who would be taking dictation in there.)

One hell of a flea market you've got there and a spectacular find. Really wouldn't want to ship this!

Good to know you can actually have a keyboard in your tombstone when the time comes ... along with an engraving like "Number One Keyboard Expert On Planet Earth" or something like that ...

Black keycaps may be advised though.

Hmm… a tombstone that is actually an interactive switch sampler. Think granite caps. That could he a wonderful idea for an art exhibit in fact! Write your own epitaph.

I never even imagined somebody could make a case out of stone. This looks very well done too. I think it needs fancier keycaps though.

What the hell kind of flea market was this? I bet it was a Twilight Zone kind of place that magically appeared out of the fog only to disappear again after Daniel bought the mysterious (yet cursed) stone keyboard. I bet if you search for that flea market, you'll find that no such place has ever existed.

what amazes me the most is that they produced an extremely expensive case for something they didn't even bother to put the best switches in. Has it got a label underneath?

wow. I wonder if that was a one-off. Looks like the switches are on little risers to allow for the thick stone top cover. I bet that cost a fortune.

Just a note to anyone wanting to make a Keyboard Case using Granite or any type of Stone, I'll buy it.

Brilliant execution of this, unique and certainly very stable and complete. I wonder what happens if this ever falls off your desk?

I think it is glued together with black silicon or some special stone adhesive.
There's no way of opening it without destroying the original used glue. I think I'd use a thin wire or a fishing line if I opened it.

I don't know I was in a hurry and didn't talk to to seller except for negotiating the price.

The keyboard is made out of six pieces: top and bottom and two pieces for the front and back and another two for the sides.

Anyway, I'm quite sure that it is a G81-1000 and the original plastic case is still inside the stone case.
