Enjoy my little tool:
What the ABS!?
http://lab.cubiq.org/wta/
you give to it any image URL and it returns the ABS color code
test image:

or try with something more suggestive like

enjoy (and don't abuse it

)

indeed. I don't know if they are standard color codes or SP used an internal naming. worth exploring.
anyway consider that the color comparison is not done with a linear equation but that's the color your eyes see.

They just have to take a cap or that sample and measure it with a spectrocolorimeter

the algorithm is weighted with what human eye sees (ie: green has more relevance than red, red has more relevance than blue)

updated.
now it also returns the color interpreted from the image together with the 3 closest ABS colors.
example (you can also link directly to a result):

I'm thinking that we should link these tools directly from the wiki — maybe Other Topics → Tools on the main page, for your two, plus ne0phyte's layout generator when it's finished. Any objections? Any suggestions for a better categorisation, before I do this? Anything else that I should add when I do this?

no objections by my side. I'd like to release these tools on github. I'll do that once the DSA Retro GB will be over

Created. Layout not optimal, but it's nice to have these tools made accessible.
