Any other retailers for Unicomp keyboards? *Canada

I live in Canada, and I want a Unicomp Ultra Classic. Which is $79. More than reasonable. But shipping to Newfoundland Canada is $60, which almost doubles the price. Is there anywhere else I might find the keyboard with cheaper shipping?

Nope. Their resellers page lists two vendors: one in UK, another in Germany.

Your best strategy might be a group buy with some fellow Canadians. The average cost of shipping per board drops a lot if you're getting more than one.

Your best bet is to vote for a candidate who does NOT believe in the ' Free Market' illusion !
I have exactly the same problem.. While the price I need to charge is more than reasonable ..
The shipping-cost makes it a no-deal !

I'm seriously considering sending each and every future NIB Model M I get my hands on to the municipal incinerator

Uh... yeah, so why is this a free market problem? These keyboards are bulky and heavy. If I want one and I want it sent to me, but I don't want to pay for postage, then who is going to pay for it? The taxpayer?

I don't really know how international shipping fees are set, but I do know shipping stuff from China to US is whole lot cheaper(I get that based on prices of cheap Chinese stuff found on ebay) than shipping from US to China. I get stuff shipped from Korea to US and it is cheaper to ship things from Korea to US than from US to Korea.

So, my tentative conclusion is that prices of international mail rates varies by countries from which mail is sent. US seems to be a place where international postage is expensive. I guess Denmark is worse than the US?

In addition to expensive postage, there are import tariffs and additional taxes. Trading internationally is risky and expensive for individuals.

@OP:
Mailing 6lb package from US to Canada is $36(Priority). If you could get free shipping (or low shipping cost) from Unicomp, you might want to ask for help to members in the US.

I spoke with an employee on Unicomp's Live Support Chat. And they offered to ship it via USPS for $40. Still more than I would have liked to pay for shipping, but it was better than their other offerings, which were $55 for ground shipping, and $70 for Fedex.

So hopefully it will arrive within 2 weeks or so, I'll post my thoughts when I get it. I'm really quite excited, never thought I could get so excited over a keyboard. I also promised myself I wouldn't buy another keyboard once I got my Leopold unless I actually needed it. Guess that's how hobbies work though isn't it, you always end up spending more than you expect :p
