I am sorry, but this resembles so much the sterotype of an "typical" American Geekhacker.

It's not your fault that the people are rude. Most here at DT are pretty annoyed by the behaviour of the many GH Members, who don't care about our usual manners, and post lots of irrelevant threads.

Offence is in the eye or the receiver. Even if one isn't meaning to be offensive, the person one in conversing with might still take offence.

I once saw an Ad for a racing game that said something like 'if you don't know how to play a racing game, learn somewhere else'. DT strikes me as that sort of forum. It seems that there's really nothing mundane here.

It's not really a "we are better than you", but more a "been there, done that". We were all noobs once, excited about our first specialty key caps and all that, so that's not a problem. One of the ideas of the founders behind this forum was to have a different forum to, among others, talk about what comes after that, without the repeating stuff. And many people got attracted to deskthority because they got bored with that kind of repeating talk. So naturally some are a bit worried now we've taken in so many refugees of geekhack. I think this all just proves there's place for two English language forums - a big one like geekhack as a magnet for new enthousiasts and for the big group buys perhaps more aimed at gamers, and a forum like deskthority where Germans obsess over ancient Cherry keyboards.

I just want to point this out and be over with it, but the guy came here looking for praise, and was pretty excited and wanted to share. I feel bad for him... all anyone even said to him was how stupid he was for posting this. It may not be personally insulting, however it was certainly rude to ignore the guy. It would be like someone trying to start a new topic in a conversation, and then having everyone else pretend they didn't hear you, continuing with the previous topic. I would be kinda pissed, too.

I couldn't agree more. Its not about GH or DT ... can't people just be compassionate and treat other people nicely. Personally, I like magic meatball and mean no disrespect what so ever but he posted pics of a HHKB with a couple of colored caps and everyone raved about it. Can't really figure out the difference.

The difference being a thoughtful colour scheme on an actual keyboard, posted in the photo section, vs "hey here's the link of what I just bought". A matter of content in a topic if you like.
