If you want to skip the video, the trick here is to put the spring in a tube to prevent it from buckling while you are pressing it into place.
The hardest part was finding a suitably sized tube. I found that the tube in a 32oz Great Value (Wal-Mart brand) Glass Cleaner bottle is just right. It has an inner diameter of just over 3mm (1/8 inch?). You don't even have to damage the tube, just borrow it while you are installing springs, and then you can return it to the bottle. This costs $2 at my Wal-Mart.
A Mainstays (Wal-Mart brand) bamboo skewer was just the right size to press the spring on, They have a diateter of just under 3mm, and they're long enough to go all the way through the plastic tube. They cost me $1 for 100 skewers.
