I had a couple but tossed them out because they had turned to sticky black goo.

As a tangential question, does anybody know how to restore old black plastic that has become sticky and nasty?
I am thinking of some handles in particular, such as tools and umbrellas.

Dust it with corn starch.

Actually I just made that up so don’t do it please. But it sounds like it could be true, right?

In conclusion, I am sorry.

Yeah that's no good. Maybe you can dip them in that flex glue liquid rubber thingy.
