Does anyone know the pinout for an Acer 6311-1? It's not marked on the board and I want to do an internal USB conversion. Thanks.

I *think* it would be as follows:
1 Clock
2 Data
3
4 Gnd
5 Vcc
But I am not certain.
A good person to ask is Orihalcon

I just happen to have a 6311/6312 open on the bench. Mine has a 4 pin plug where the cable attaches. Looking at the PC board with the top away from you the wire colors, left to right, are black, yellow, gray, and red. These correspond to PS/2 pins 5 (clock), 1 (data), 3 (ground), and 4 (VCC +5V) respectively. By the way, I found out you can chop up Matias click leaves to replace Acer ones that have gone bad. A few were mangled in mine.

I recently picked one of these guys up but the PS2 cord was cut (I don’t know why). I’m quite green when it comes it PS2, so how can I convert the cable that I have to USB?
Thankyou in advance

A lot of cords got cut back in the day because that was the only part of the keyboard that was economically recyclable.markcm02 wrote: 18 May 2019, 16:32

Some more modern keyboards speak both AT/PS/2 and USB and those will work with a passive converter (just a pin adapter). But the Acer is too old for that, so it will need an active converter (one that does the protocol conversion). There are numerous cheap ones that work in some cases, but I've had the best luck with a Soarers converter. You'll need to repair your cable or hard wire the converter directly to the keyboard. Here are a couple on ebay:
