Terminology?

Dummy question of the day:
OK, I finally understand now that the "tabs" referred to on Alps and clones are what I would have called "mounting pegs" or something similar. So what is the correct terminology for the 4 bits that protrude from the rectangular switch?

I would call them "legs" but I am strictly an amateur.

An amateur you are not! So glad to see you still here

If you're talking about the four bits that clip the switch below its mounting plate, I recall seeing the term "wings" at some point.

Yes, if you are talking about the plastic triangles then I think that "wings" is right.

There are 4 small white tabs or ears that stick out from the center rectangle. I want to know what these tabs are called?

Thank you very much for that description (takes a 'professional' to sort this long time mystery).
Normally refer to them as thingy-bob's, hanging off the main shaft
