Keyboard Haul - Type Setting Shop Episode #1

I'm pretty stoked. I just picked up a huge load of equipment from an old family owned type setting shop, all in for $125! As you can see many of these keyboards have unique legends which went with old computer systems used with phototypesetting machines.

That Intelligent Scanning System 4000 board is freaking sweet. Lovely legends, weird labeled LEDs, and SKCC Alps.
I'm curious about that ADDs/NCR board. I've seen some with Omrons and Fujistus. Don't know about their protocol or anything though.

The switches feel great on both boards! I almost missed them. They were under shrink wrap with the entire machine which was going to be scrapped.

It has White / Linear Space Invader switches

Holy cow! Such great finds! Love the kaypro computer, and it works too!
But the state of that shop looks very very sad. I would love to grab a selectric typewriter from there. Those bigger machines need to go to a museum so that they don't end up in a landfill.

These continue to be supercool! These boards have heaps of charm and its great that they didn't go to a landfill but are being enjoyed.

I think they are white Alps or clones. They feel like craps but hey I get some nice keys out of the deal.

So many selectrics

I actually saw around that many at a recycling center I went to somewhat recently but didn't take any. Are you planning to buy them all?

It worked when we powered it up yesterday

There were some other units around / parts I didn't grab while I was there including 10 more dot matrix printers new in box. There was so much more though that was gone before I got there.

You might be right. They are engraved and filled in.

No way I could store that many. I am thinking about maybe getting 1 or 2. I asked a local friend if he would rescue them but he already had 20 typewriters

Not a single Cherry around. I pulled the keycaps of everything I found including the pile of keebs I left behind.

The CompuScan went with some kind of phototypesetting machine so not a terminal but neat looking. I would like to see some of this stuff not go to scrap though so I will ask around if anyone local might be interested in some of this stuff.

Looks like almost everything there is Keytronic foam and foil. A bit disappointing but at least they aren't rubber domes I guess.

Any chance you could pop a keycap off of that TI Silent 700? I don't think it is but the keycaps remind me a lot of ones used on Clare-Pendar boards.

Not right away I'm afraid. I have the bulk of this stored away at my dads place since I didn't have room for it all in my apartment.

That means that you no longer need your re-legible caps right ? And can sell them to me for a reasonable fee
