So I thought I'd write a preliminary review of my new keyboard since that's what a large part of this site's about.

The first thing I noticed was the weight. This is significantly heavier than any other keyboard I've owned, and it feels solid, quality. Despite that, for a 100% keyboard (105 keys I believe – may vary with sub-specs.)

I bought this for my gaming machine, replacing a DPower "Mechanical feel" gaming keyboard which was pretty horrible. This MKP feels worlds apart. In terms of desk area, it's significantly smaller than the previous occupant but it is taller, especially with the feet in raised position which is my personal preference.

The keys are Cherry MX Browns, and the deliver a crisp feel and lovely clicky sound. Not too loud, and not too firm. Comparing and contrasting with my other keyboard the whole typing experience is far more positive. I notice that my dome kb feels really horrible now in comparison.

The keys are pbt with laser ablation – hard to know how long they will remain in good nick, but I've added a couple of chrome keys for WASD and Arrow functions and have some double-shots en route to me.

Comes with a solid feeling braided USB cable with a micro connector at the kb end.

Overall the whole thing feels pretty quality – responsive and gives a good feeling to typing on it.

Lighting needs more than a word! This has white backlighting – no RGB here – but there is an RGB available. I chose this specifically to avoid the rainbow puke unicorn syndrome; but as I've stated elsewhere I do like to game in a darker room for the purposes of immersion. (Dedicated MMO/PVPer)

The lighting on this kb is not simply decorative though. It can be made to be pretty if that's what you're into – with four different programable profiles available, but the user can set lighting profiles for individual keys, for example to highlight different functions within a game etc. Although I've yet to get into this in depth, I imagine that with a combination of lighting and key caps it would be possible to create an excellent gaming layout for your favourite games.

The biggest drawback with this keyboard is the poor documentation. Mine actually arrived with a pretty crappy, tiny, printed instruction manual. In Turkish. Because... It's an English keyboard, with an English layout, sent to an address in England. (Links to docs below, see for yourself but at least there's some online documentation.)

I'm still getting to grips with the board, this is my first mechanical keyboard – and certainly my first foray into this weird and wonderful hobby but overall I'm very pleased with my purchase. It's not the cheapest board on the market but at under £75 from Amazon I'm very happy and would seriously consider buying another if I felt the need – but I freely admit my experience is limited so perhaps others may disagree – and of course a lot comes down to personal preference. That said, I can see that this may well render my Nostromo n52 may soon become redundant, and I've used one of those for gaming for well over a decade - both Razer and previously Belkin, which may tell you a bit about how this board feels to me.
