Questions about stabilzers, hotswap sockets and LEDs
Posted: 28 Feb 2018, 23:34
I would like to know a bit more about the compatiblity of stabilizers and hotswap sockets.
Keyboards that one or either of these might be used on are: K-type, WhiteFox, UHK, VA68M, GK64, Planck, Race 3, K63 Wireless, G Pro.
Stabilizers:
I am intersted in two kinds of stablizers: the Cherry ones who seem to be highly compatible and easier to place in certain keyboards and the "R10 Transparent Gold Plated PCB Mount Screw-in Stabilizers V2" from Zeal PC.
What kind of PCBs, plates or keyboards are (or are not) both of these stabilziers compatible with? What do I have to look out for?

Hotswap sockets:
There seem to be two possibilities for switches: Kaihl and Holtite. Which type to choose for which kind of keyboard, PCB?
When using Holtite hotswaps for switches, I think the 8134-HC-8P2 are the right ones. Are these the same as the ones from Zeal PC?

There are also Holtite hotswaps for the LEDs which I think you have to use when using hotswaps for your switches. I think 8134-HC-5P2 are the ones you mount into the PCB but Zeal has a totally different type that goes through the switch I think? They're called SIP sockets. What's the deal here, which would I need for what leds or switches?
Do I even need the SIPs if I use the Holtites?

And I believe the Kaihl hotswaps for switches only work with leds already mounted on the PCB?
LEDs:
Why/when to choose for 2x3x4mm LEDs or 1.8mm LEDs?
Not easy to figure out, any help or advice would be greatly apprciated!
