Hi Deskthority,
My name is SmallFry, been a member of Geekhack since July. I just stepped into the mech boards world and I love it. I have copied the AIKON for us keyboard enthusiasts and will be hopefully selling them soon:) so just saying hi!

Welcome to Deskthority!
I'm looking forward to the AIKON - my Maltron needs remapping.

Hi, welcome!
Just a little warning: Did you get permission from AQUA and/or inornate on OTD to sell the Aikon? The aikon schematics were posted for hobbyists to build one. They were not posted to be mass produced/and or sold at profit.
The last time this happened with a certain Chinese website starting selling Aikons, the response from OTD was anything but pretty.

Do you know if there is any doc. that talks about the distribution limitations?
1. It's not a matter of being cheap or expensive. There
is profit as soon as revenues from sales exceed all costs incurred. If the amount to be sold is not explicitly limited right from the outset, there is always a possibility that profit will be made in the end, when sales continue after costs have been recovered.
2. "so no profit no violation": this is a widespread error. The point is not that no profit is being made, but that the owner of the rights is deprived of the possibility to decide which use is being made of his property.
Imagine someone would want to print and sell keycaps featuring Asterix or Batman or... oh, wait, something similar has happened before:

I'm torn with this.
I respect the OTD community immensely but getting your hands on an AIKON isn't exactly easy...
Not everyone has the skill to make these things themselves

I will contact them directelly to ask for there blesing and explain our goal. I asked sixty because he has good contacts with that community.
I wish you good luck and do hope they will give their permission.

On Geekhack the polish guy wants to sell IBM mugs.
Did you know lego has copyrighted the stud pattern? I should copyright my stud pattern too.
