Opening up a Focus FK-200x

I'm trying to open up an FK-2002 to give it a proper cleanup, but I can't get the plastic clips on the top of the back case to release the two parts. I don't see any other way they're held together (I don't have the dust cover nor the hinges). Has anyone had any success with this? I have screwdrivers and prying tools aplenty, but I also would like to avoid damaging the plastic.

I've opened a couple. It's primarily a matter of patience. I used a wide, flat head (standard) screwdriver to press down and lever the plastic tabs away from the case edge while simultaneously prying the case halves apart gently. It will make an ugly popping noise upon release. Insert a piece of cardboard or something into the gap and move on to the next tab.

I'd get something like this: a nylon automotive trim tool set, something like $10 at a local import store:

The goal is to separate two pieces of plastic held together with plastic clips, without damaging the plastic. Metal tools damage plastic really easily. The same technique is needed for many Costar boards, the Novatouch, etc.

- Nylon trim tools.
