Hi guys, I have just received an Industrial Grey Model M for $130, the part no. is 1394950. I tried searching for this part no. but couldnt find any details on it, the closest one is 1394946 which were made around the same period. Another weird thing is that this particular one does not come with regular silver on black badge, but instead its just a flat sticker (all the pics in attachment) the sticker on its back cover is also placed upside down and labeled Made in United Kingdom. Apart from its dirtiness, everything seems to works flawlessly; most of the rivets are still in place.
Another thing I notice is the typing feel, I also have another two 1995 Model M, one 1987 Model M SSK and another Model F AT, this 1394950 Industrial M sounds deepest among all others and all the keys are really stiff, much more stiffer than other Ms in my collection.
Anyone heard of this part no. ?
Thanks for the help.
Please help me identify this Industrial Grey Model M (1394950)

Having an "upside-down" back sticker with date-of-birth info is something not unusual on IBM UK Greenock-made IBM model M keyboards. Many IBM UK Greenock-made 42H1292 have the same issue of "upside-down" stickers.
While it is hard to tell from the picture, it looks like the internal date code sticker says 1997-12-08 and external date code sticker says 08-12-97 which shares some consistency for a date of 08 December 1997.
Also interesting that the keyboard case has 4 exterior holes for drainage channels, but the internal keyboard assembly does not have 4-specific output drains.

However, I managed to find more clue. I think it shares the same part no with the one in the following link; but still that one has silver on black original badge, while mine is just a flat sticker.

Deskthority wiki also mentioned "The 1394950 was an Industrial model made from 1996 on, and was largely identical to the earlier 1394946 with one distinguishing feature: Instead of the hard plastic label with raised silvered letters, it has a simple flat sticker." wiki/IBM_Enhanced_Keyboard
But its not listed in part no. though...
I wonder if which one is correct, and is my keyboard a legitimate one.. or it has many parts from different model Ms combined together.

i was just about to say that I have the board with same model number, but I see you've already found my ebay listing. I wasn't able to find any more info on it as well. When I get time, I'll check part numbers on the inside of the top and bottom case. Do you have anything imprinted there?

Looking at the photos carefully, I do not see any specific characteristics that would indicate that this is a fake or counterfeit or not legitimate model M 1394950. The stickers on the back of the keyboard case, back of the internal keyboard plate and the small sticker on the front of the keyboard plate are all consistent with other IBM UK Made in Greenock, Scotland.I wonder if which one is correct, and is my keyboard a legitimate one.. or it has many parts from different model Ms combined together.
It is a shame about the IBM sticker, but it is well known that the later model M keyboards from the late 1990s were of a different quality than the earliest model M keyboards from 1985 and 1986.

@Tangtawan there was a group by of IBM metallic-on-black stickers. They are probably not a 1:1 replacement for originals, but they look quite nice. Ping XMIT or lot_lizard (post323335.html#p323335), but if they have non available, I have 3, and I probably don't need one.
