I sometimes feel a tang of regret for not having bought one when I was offered. Not sure that I prefer it in the long run though.

From looking at the way the springs are built, it looks like the inconsistency might come from having the springs in slightly different orientations in the switch-well. If you experiment in that orientation, it might end up evening up the weights. It'd also be interesting to play with slightly uncoiling on of the springs, and making the tactile loop a bit larger. Might make it even better!

Could be, but the slider wells are centrosymmetrical, so I'm not sure how that would work. As these switches were designed to be as simple and cheap as possible, it sounds weird orientation would be a factor Oo .
