Nixdorf surprise reloaded

I finally got my hands on three Nixdorf keyboards, but two of them don't look like something I ever saw.
Maybe you guys know more about it, but I think the layout is very cool. A little bit more width then a TKL.

Here are some more pictures of them.

And here are some pictures of the key-lock.

OMG! Admit you chopped them!

That's some serious stuff here, you're on my list for DT2016 best discovery!

Sorry to disappoint you, but no they're not chopped. ;)
I thought that I just couldn't find any information about the Nixdorf, but it seems like a good discovery.

That's worth to put in on the Wiki isn't it? I can try to take some "okay photos". I just have the LG G2 camera, please forgive me.

Both of them have a little bit different keycaps too, but they are currently not on the board.
Oh and one of those key-locks is "broken-off". I don't think it's broken, but in a hurry I couldn't get it on there. I need to investigate on that. Would be sad if you can't put the key-lock back.

Regarding that lock on the second one, I thinks that's dead. There are some four little black hooks which seems to be all broken of in transit. Maybe it's fixable with some glue? I do have the important assembly part for the key mechanism, just those four little black hooks are broken off.

I will add some pictures of the lock.

So many Nixies! And I don't have a single switch! D:

Yes phote I could not resist posting it here. It's the compact Softkeys. I'll do a full teardown with pics soon. Nixies galore.

That larger Nixdorf Softkeys is well known BTW, photekq even owns one himself. I've had one before they are not that rare:

The compact one is almost too nice to rip up for a custom. Of course if the price was right... :evilgeek:

I can settle with the tops and give in exchange normal tops :) keyboard still functional :D I don't have the money for the right price :(
P.S: I'm kidding :) I know you like the keyboards the way they are. I'm the crazy 60% guy and if I can't use the board I have no space just for storage, even if some boards are worth doing that.

Settle with the normal tops for your mod and save $$$ to buy this. :evilgeek:

It's just the same  Damn I regret missing out on that batch of nixie boards in January :( And back then I was in Munich too, but was busy with other stuff ...

That compact one is awesome, one of you two needs to make a custom controller for it!

I'd very much like to. BTW I'd don't have the actual lock key like hammelgammler does. hammelgammler send me yours so I can have it made. ;)

wowow! sooo nice this compact one!! never seen such one.. great great find..
do you think then maybe I can still resume my hopes to find ansi caps variant?? :)
(you know I'm the crazy one that actually loves the caps, because of their sound, not that I'd dislike the switches of course but so far could only grab the caps.. ;))

and here's my 65% steampunk-fox attempt:

Caps are looking good, tentator. :)

yeah.. hehe.. and don't you feel a little bit guilty? :)
functionality is great, tactility (mxclears), sound (great hollow doubleshots) and superb trackpoint right there where it has to be.. ;)

but I'm having another project almost finished that will replace it anyways.. ;)

Why would I feel guilty..?

well just kidding.. :)
since you sold me those great caps..

actually I was thinking about doing specifically a layout for them to better fit the caps.. maybe some acrylic print at formulor and I'd try them out in a test of a 40% I always wanted to do.. and on this one actually I should put the newly arrived granite set.. will do pictures and let you know.. ;)

I like that layout, may have to copy it and have a plate cut.

Very cool!
