Take survey here: http://goo.gl/forms/562cj5sVhe
Hey everyone!
Lately I've been really interested in what layouts/special keys people want included in GMK sets. So I put together a quick survey to get a general consensus as to what the most popular layout requirements are. I was having trouble with how to frame the question because ideally we would want to accommodate as many layouts as possible, but the reality of that is very expensive sets. So if you decide to take this survey, could you please answer with what you need/will use, that would help give better results.
Thanks to everyone who decides to take the survey, any feedback or comments are more than welcomed.

Your survey requires logging in in a Google account.
Probably there will be an interest check on Facebook and a group buy with Massdrop,
and then delivery will happen only upon presentation of a criminal record.

Yea I decided to have it 1 response per person to avoid people voting multiple time, thus inflating a kits popularity.

how will this affect GMK? will you send this survey to them hoping that they will update their kits?

Problem will always just be the high GMK MOQ paired with high prices. If GMK does not change anything it will be the same as always. For big sale numbers a standard full size ANSI set without many options will be the way to go - if it is then sold everywhere except Europe... Personally I would always prefer bigger sets, with more options, like 1800 support, old Windows logo keys, Alt Gr of course, etc. Vendors like JTK will be an option instead GMK, but they must improve quality.

Yea true, though GMK has lowered it's MOQ to 150 which will help sets that have a smaller following. Price is still the big hurdle in terms of delivering the most layouts, which is why I made this, to hopefully see which layouts people care the most about.

AltGr could be added to your survey, that's true.
Also, I have no way in the survey to express that I'm most interested in modifier/adapter sets from GMK. I'm using German language layout when typing, which will never be part of any GMK GB as long as their MOQ exists, but I have lots of nice vintage Cherry DE sets to choose from that all need modifier adapter sets to work on modern keyboards. Same might be true of other European users.
I like how GB organizers have different emphasis regarding extra keys, it would be pretty bad if they all decided in the same way based on majorities in a poll. To cater to a minority that hasn't been taken care of for some time can be a way to sucess, too.

Yea I assumed it would be considered part of ISO, which could use a lot of expansion given that it's second only to winkeyless in terms of votes.
Yea I forgot to add a comments section, will do that now. You can consider this for mod sets as well due to the fact that the base is ignored, so voting for a layout will also give your preference for mod sets.Halvar wrote: Also, I have no way in the survey to express that I'm most interested in modifier/adapter sets from GMK. I 100% agree, one of the things I noticed about some of the Korean GMK mock-ups that I've seen is that they all have the exact same layout, something we can hopefully avoid. More than anything I made this out of pure interest in what people wanted and if it would be helpful to future GB runners then that would just be a bonus.

@IneffectiveDuck: What does the survey look like? Care to run a parallel poll here at DT?

"ISO" can mean a lot of things. For some GB organisers it means "including an extra enter, shift and some blank keys", which pisses some people off. Most GB organisers don't include Alt Gr. I think it helps to be explicit here.

Though I'm not an ISO user myself I'll indefinably be jumping on this.t8c wrote: https://geekhack.org/index.php?topic=78973.0 [IC] GMK icon mods for various sets.

I can imagine this is really frustrating, apart from the standard ISO enter, Right Shift and a blank or |\, what other keys would you want included given that covering all ISO sets is basiclly impossible with GMKs MOQ?

I'm not actually a hardcore ISO user either and I probably won't use GMK caps because of the bad quality and light bleed recently, but Cherry caps are my favourite. When I do use ISO it's either UK-ISO or US software ANSI layout with hardware ISO (so US-ISO, I suppose) so those keys would be a good start.
