Hey folks,

If you follow reddit, here or GeekHack, you probably have come across my KUL ES-87 posts. Anyways, I am a big fan of MX Clears which is reaffirmed after my MX Blue Pok3r arrived ~2 weeks ago. Bottoming out like a madman really bugs my fingertips after a long day in the office.

Stock MX Clear I was very happy with my keyboard at it's stock level. However, after reading all the Ergo Clear posts, I began drooling over the possibilities. I wanted to at least lube my switches, fix my stabilizers and make my spacebar a little heavier. Cutting back on some of the scratchiness wouldn't hurt either.

So far, I've purchase 2 bags of SPRiT's from mechanicalkeyboards.com

68g SPRiTS To my surprise, these springs feel generally heavier than stock clear springs which is odd. I've seen Clears described as 65g/100g, 60g/80g, and so on. Regardless, these 68gs don't do much for me. They seem a bit heavier than I wanted, though I am glad I opened her up to try lubed switches. The smoothness is ... (EDIT)

78g SPRiTS These sounded ideal. Like stock MX clear, they are light at actuation and heavier at the bottoming out point. I can definitively say that they are super light at actuation... feels almost as easy to press as these MX Blues. However, I do not notice all that much resistance at the bottoming out point.

I'm now lost. Considering the amount of work involved to actually test these springs out live, I am not sure what to choose.

Has anyone tested the other heavier SPRiT springs? 80g and above? Which one is closest to the stock MX Clear, maybe slightly lighter?
JUST KIDDING EVERYONE :) :D :D :D :D :D

I just lubed up 8x 78g Bryan-style Ergo Clears and they are wonderful. Lube does wonders!!!

Once I break them in, they will be PERFECT.

I'm pretty sure 78g bottom out doesn't make it an "ErgoClear" as the original spec weights were using MX Brown/MX Red springs (~2g lighter than 62g bottom out).

Having many clears boards, I personally think that Clears differ by batch. I have some stock clear boards that came to me NIB and are very smooth from day 1, but some keyboards that came to me used (ie severely broken in) are still really scratchy and cannot be used without lube.

The smoothest clears I've ever touched were some ancient terminals from Taobao that had lost their tactile bumps... I wonder how many keypresses it took to wear them down totally. What I do not understand, is that the lost of tactile bumps seemed to be uniform. Now I can understand the enter/return key being totally worn after many years, but wtf the escape key or some function key?

That's interesting.

@Axtran, I shall call them Ogre*-Clears. Trademark bmilcs 2016.

@Berserk I'm exchanging my Poker w/ blues for a Poker w/ clears and PBT/no backlight. That way, I can eventually have 2 clear boards... maybe 1 stock/lubed/clipped stabs and 1 with lighter clears for gaming.
