Yeaaaah. I'm sure it'll work fine for soft woods and plastics, but I wouldn't get your hopes up that it would be to do much fine work with aluminum. All the CNC manufacturers say they can do aluminum (even the cheapo Chinese 3040's) but the real issue is one of rigidity. The frame has to be able to resist flex while machining, and that cute little guy just doesn't have the heft to do it.

Also, for the likely retail price range of $4500 you can get into "real" mill territory and just get a 4/5 axis table.

(I've spent a little too much time researching mini-mills...)
