New Ducky arrived today.

Looks pretty cute when its all soggy. Looks like it wants back in the egg

Not many things cuter than a baby duck. Hatching is a hobby that brings a little peace into my life. I hatched chickens and quail last week. More quail due next weekend. Quail are by far my favorite, very social and very curious about their new world outside the egg.

So, what do you do with the hatchlings?

I keep some for egg production / breeding. The others I sell or trade.
I also raise rabbits. I eat the rabbits.

Just hatched the forth duck. It was stuck with its foot on top of its head for more than 24 hrs so I went ahead and opened the egg for him and he was able to push out and sit up in my hand. All four are sitting in the nest grooming each other and seem to be doing well. Good way to end the weekend.
