Matias Click and Quiet Click switches are available in a 4800 pack direct from Matias.
If I had 25 or so interested parties willing to each buy a pack of about 110 switches for about $30 it would be worthwhile. The price could go down with more interested parties.
So, any takers?

7bit's been selling these for years, and still can't get rid of his stock. He even disassembles the tactile ones to create handmade linears. Not many takers even so!

That's the spirit! The trouble with Alps builds is — just as Matteo said back in 2013 on 7bit's thread — where's the damn caps? MX has an ecosystem Alps does not. As much as I personally dislike the MX feel.
There's been some good things happening in Matias land of late. But not enough of a revolution to actually spike demand for loose switches quite yet.

There may be some interest as there is a GB going for alps modifiers. With that being said you can get a 110 Pack of Matias switches from mechanicalkeybords.com for $37 shipped. Unfortunately once you factor shipping etc in, it might not be worth it. With that being said, I would really like alps to make a come back.

7bit also sells them way above the Matias price. (last time I checked; not anymore)Muirium wrote: 7bit's been selling these for years, and still can't get rid of his stock. He even disassembles the tactile ones to create handmade linears. Not many takers even so!

Not really, 110 switches cost 37$ on mechanicalkeyboards.com, 7bit sells them for 0.24€ per switch, that is 26,4€ per 110 switches. If you consider taxes and shipping from the US (Keyboard Co. doesn't have them in stock currently) that's actually cheaper.

I figured 4800 switches was *almost* enough for kbdfr. Assuming each fits into a circle 17.2mm in diameter you could cover the surface of a sphere about a meter across with 4800 switches. Not quite large enough to sit inside it though.

7 bit could sell all his alps/matias very easy, make round 5b with alps mount!

Great to see it's lowered. The 200-pack was at 50€ last time I checked.

Yay, the Infinity Keybaord group buy is back on Massdrop!
What this means is that blank PBT DSA keycaps with Alps mounts will again be available.
I wonder if we can just send the group buy organizer an e-mail and get just the keycaps.

I don't think MassDrop is using SP to source the caps.
As far as I can tell, they're essentially useless for anything besides DSA, SA and DCS profile caps on MX. And really aren't interested in extending their capabilities either.

I think you're wrong about both claims you've made.
1. Search for "signature" in this link: https://www.massdrop.com/buy/infinity-e ... %20ergodox (it doesn't state explicitly that they are using SP caps, but I doubt they are advertising profiles from SP and using another supplier).
2. SP can do DSA and DCS with Alps mount. They gave me relatively good price for 1x blanks, but the other sizes I've asked for are way more expensive (probably because the number of keys I need is smaller).
I'm after an ErgoDox clone, so I need 1x, 2x and 1.5x or 1.25x keys.
I'm sure SP can do legends, but I've not asked.
As far as I know the biggest problem with Alps keycaps is the vastly different layouts all the Alps boards have.
Can someone list the more popular Alps boards?
Would someone with AEK or Dell AT10x be interested in replacement caps?

I think I'm right…
I spoke to the MassDrop guys when I was in San Francisco. They have other sources they much prefer over SP. And I've followed "progress" on SP's Alps caps long enough to know they're just as disinterested as they say. Alps future lies elsewhere. In China.

Sorry but what does it mean "I've followed progress on SP's Alps caps"?
They've given me a real quote, which I can use to order keycaps and I'm sure they will fulfil it.
p.s. the future of everything lies in China anyway.

I've seen a lot of talk about these Alps caps of theirs, but no sausage. I bet you can order single unit caps like that from them. And I reckon the odds they'd eventually fulfil your order are reasonably good. But where are all the Alps switch keyboards with SP caps?
The talk in San Francisco was not kind about SP. Their reputation amongst those who do large orders is about as bad as you can imagine. With Vortex and others pushing into their territory, they're not even responding to defend themselves.

For what it's worth, the talk around Delta Blues suggested the SP weren't set up for Alps space bars in DCS and that their stabiliser mounts were non standard. The buy was to use the Cherry style double shot legends so legends shouldn't be a problem.

What would people want in an Alps set? Delta Blues had a Marmite colour scheme. Maybe a boring white-on-black or black-on-cream set would go further? Maybe something in PBT?facetsesame wrote: For what it's worth, the talk around Delta Blues suggested the SP weren't set up for Alps space bars in DCS and that their stabiliser mounts were non standard. Welllllll SP can allegedly do DCS in PBT... Sounds like a dream come true for me. And while doubleshot Alps caps are plentiful, there are fewer dyesubs. Maybe someone(*) should run an informal IC?
I hereby relinquish all commitment to any IC implied by this post.

I dunno if I've seen dyesub DCS from SP, but I'm sure I've seen PBT in their DCS overrun inventory before.

Looking at this poll https://www.massdrop.com/vote/custom-ma ... rer=9FZMKP
A Granite like set is a safe bet. It has won both votes (for cherry mx and alps).
@Touch_It: Matias already have them available (white and black). They are also selling single caps.
