I love raw aliased pixels :) and I love the original Zeldas (anything before The Wind Waker)

Bitmap fonts ftw. Pixel perfect, compact and perfectly readable. So nice to the eyes.

I've made about 20 bitmap fonts, pixel by pixel. I even manually anti-aliased a few. (the only way to have anti-aliased fonts on an Amiga 500)

I was also an icon artist. It's tricky making good looking icons with only 16 colours in low resolution.

OK, you asked for it - here's a 16 colour Amiga 500 screenshot:
A500Desktop.png
(DOOM icon left deliberately chunky... for that old DOOM feel)

Another custom font in Amiga text editor:
MicrogoldedA500.PNG
And internet on the Amiga 500 in 16 colours:
A500bikini.png
(16 colours isn't quite enough for good flesh tones  )

16 colours? I released an icon set in the MagicWB style, which was only eight colours.
When I started with Linux, I made an 16×16 icon set for a DirOpus-clone for Linux called Gentoo (preceding the Linux distro with the same name). Even though this was in truecolour, there was a lot of hand-antialiasing to get it eligible at such a small scale. I actually used TVPaint under Windows - which had a user interface somewhat similar to DeluxePaint on the Amiga.
Yikes... this was all back in the '90s, but my old Gentooicons are still distributed with the latest bugfix-release of the file manager.

I suppose that you used an expansion card with a faster CPU in your Amiga 500 to have it running smooth with so many extensions.. ;)

You suppose correctly. I have a 68020 accelerator - but it's still the 1985 graphics. (I also have a stock A1000 and the graphics look the same - though unusable without the accelerator) I used this A500 as my main computer up to 2008 - internet and everything. (insane, but true)

I'd like to see your 8-colour MagicWB icons. My colour scheme is mostly MagicWB compatible. Maybe you have something I could steal... I mean... borrow. :D
