Cherry G80-11900 Touchpad Keyboard USB POS - Black
http://www.ebay.com/itm/252025896449

I got one. PCB mounted modern Cherry MX Black switches, lasered key caps. Not the most collectible board but a cheap and surprisingly practical one.

The Cherry POSs are pretty nice, but I keep looking for a TIPRO in the US.

There are tons of Futuro's in Germany for < $20, but then shipping to the US is $80!

Touch_It found his at shopgoodwill.com. That one was SKIDATA branded. Nothing interesting there right now, but sometimes that changes!

At one point elecplus had a whole bunch of 122-key terminal boards with vintage Cherry MX Blacks in the main key area. They were labeled "ComputerLab International". I only have one and I was going to use it for Round 5a.

Why 80$? I mean a tipro board costs 20€
http://www.ebay.de/itm/TIPRO-Futuro-Kas ... 5#shpCntId
or 30€
http://www.ebay.de/itm/Tipro-Kassen-Apo ... 1412790141

shipping to usa costs 16€
https://www.dhl.de/de/paket/pakete-vers ... erika.html

I know the seller asks for much more, but if you find a german proxy you can have it for much cheaper.

A proxy is always the way to solve these things.

I got one and the blacks are perfectly smooth! They have 88 vintage Blacks and 1 equally smooth linear Grey.
On a side note, all the rest of the switches are linear USw LXBY01.
Really meh switches...

Yeah, I knew proxying was one potential option, I had just been trying for the last few weeks (clearly in vain) to look for TiPro's already in the US. Good to know about DHL Global Packet though, I thought it was more expensive than that.

I don't know if it's even worth contacting the seller to see if they'd ship direct to the US via DHL Packet to save the 10-15€ for the extra shipping to a proxy (and their time)...

I've usually had good luck contacting sellers directly. Most of them just want to sell stuff. Worst they can say is "no".

From the first Tipro board it is (16,90€) 3,90€ shipping in germany and for the second keyboard (30€) the shipping is in germany for free. If the seller accept the cheaper shipping price it is good for you, but you can see that it is also very cheap to ship it to a proxy.

German domestic shipping is the cheapest in all of Europe. In fact, Germans can ship parcels to Britain cheaper than we can ship them around here domestically!

Worse than no: they can mislead you and downright lie of course. I'm sure I read a post on the forum earlier today where someone complained that a rare board they were hunting vanished *after* they called the seller and arranged a private deal. The seller stopped answering their calls. Sounds like they got an even better offer and screwed him over.

There's always something worse! Human nature.

The price is too high for me.

I don't see that we have any "Dibs on the..." rule in this tread. If it's out there for sale it's fair game. Now if you PM someone about it before posting that's a little more discrete. But even then it's a public auction. I certainly don't expect anyone to keep away from any auction because I want them to.

Posted: 19 Jul 2015, 19:28
by derzemel
Yes you are right, there will always be some members that will enter the auction even if you ask, but I am sure that there will be more members that will stay away from it.
I deleted the link because I like to think that this may be an unspoken gentleman rule here and a means to be a little more respectful with each other. Something used to avoid animosity between forum members.
But, if anybody wants the link, all they have to do is ask.

Posted: 19 Jul 2015, 19:42
by seebart
Sure of course it's nice to respect any wishes of our fellow DT'lers. But you cannot expect it from everybody. Of course we are not the only ones watching ebay. There are a few more people out there... ;)

Posted: 19 Jul 2015, 19:42
by photekq
I have only asked people if they'd consider removing links twice. I didn't expect them to remove them either time, and wouldn't be at all angry if they decided they didn't want to. However, they were both kind enough to do so.

Both times they were items I bid quite high on, so I was sure I would get them anyway. I just wanted to get them for a less ridiculous price.

Posted: 19 Jul 2015, 19:44
by seebart
It's not about removing the links, but about expecting everybody not to bid on that auction. That's simply unrealistic. The links are easy to find anyway.

BTW just for the record I am not interested in that G80 anyway. 8-)
