The last one is, of course, a classic.

Yes, that last one is very nice.

This one turned out very nice with those colours.
I'd also like to see one of matt3o's handwritten PCB!

The girl looks great, but only photos are allowed which you took yourself!

Is is just me, or is there something thoroughly kinky about the Datahand?

I must get one someday and persuade she with better fingers to pose for some legitimate banner shots…

First you get the money, then you get the power, then you get the women.

Is it just me, or has using a Datahand atrophied her arms to nearly Mekon proportions? She needs transferring to a white Alps keyboard to beef up her arms.

I've heard a CRT lifting based exercise regime can also work wonders.

What if he wins a wingnut Clack and flaunts that — would that do him any good? :P

(Much to my surprise, these pictures seem to work quite nicely with the banner overlay. Must remember to paint it black…)

Nice pics, matt. There is something hypnotising about a full sheet of Topre springs staring back at you

Some more love for Topre -- short throw spring and PCB:

Haha yeah -- I fixed it, thanks. The spring sits a little too high and touches the controls at the top. Oh well

Seems fine to me. I was noticing that were due some new images.
Is it just me, or would it be better to keep *all* the images and just have a huge rotation, instead of just showing the same few over and over?

If you have 100, and add a new one, you would (almost) never see the new one, and instead see the same old ones over and over.
Anyway, I agree it should be more dynamic (you could put new ones more frequently in rotation), but the current implementation prevents a long list, unless you don't mind it being sent to the browser with each page request. (The alternative is an Ajax call to request the next image, but I didn't want large amounts of such calls for this purpose). This can be improved of course but that takes some web development.

why not a header per day? and delete old ones when you have more than 365?
Posted: 11 Feb 2014, 00:04
by Daniel Beardsmore
Getting an image from AJAX would only take a few lines of JavaScript and a few lines of PHP/Perl. It just needs a better RNG than the one MediaWiki uses where Special:Random keeps giving me the same pages :)
Technically there's no reason why the images can't be weighted. Not sure how — one odd way would be an array of string references with the references repeated according to the desired weight (a bit like modal average). Someone clever could surely come up with something more sensible.

You mean, it wouldn't rotate unexpectedly? Or adding a new one per day and keeping the last 365, rotated at random?
Posted: 11 Feb 2014, 00:08
by matt3o
no rotation. one per day.
