Thanks - I will look for the MX slider options (presumably meaning an adaptor type that can be used to go from MX to Topre). I had only seen the 'cheap' looking ones and wasn't sure how well they really performed. Do you have a link to the JTK project?

I believe the initial batch is going out as part of this GB https://geekhack.org/index.php?topic=77300.0
On the last couple of pages there are already some pictures.

Hey matt3o, do we (and by we I mean you) know what colors will be initially available to designers for this family of keycaps?

And who will be the designer liaison for this manufacturer? Will that be you for the foreseeable future?

Good! SP need a proper kick in the arse to remind them to innovate, they can't produce keysets fast enough to meet demand, so these guys will probably do this to fill the demand in the meantime. Still, these don't look too bad. Maybe a new manufacturer for Round 7. :D

And no more "monopoly"
Gotta down the price or they are dead!

Wouldn't we rather talk about M3 in this thread, and not some Chinese SA replica? There is nothing innovative about a clone of SA.

last run of prototypes. I still have to prime all of them gray to better see the shape... but I wanted to share anyway

Yea, thanks for adding basic ISO support!
And I hope German legends will become reality as well

That's the beauty of dye-sublimation. Legends all cost the same to produce/print no matter what they look like.

Are those prototypes 3D printed?

No :)

Aw I thought that was the QC for the molds already :(

I guess this is to expose the shapes to eventual critics, before another actual mold process (?) It's true that that white color is hiding the shapes pretty well :)

the mold is done only when everything is 100% working. An error in the mold means $4000 down the tube.

I'm curious what colors and finishes will be available to keycap set designers. It would be a shame if the only finish available was a matte finish. And will there be a set of color chips or something similar available to assist in color selection?

Posted: 05 Feb 2017, 17:07
by matt3o
color selection is basically pantone or RAL color ring

aaaah right. what a lovely layout. it would require a dedicated kit... which might be a bit overkill. Unless you can find 30-ish people interested

I dunno if I would call it lovely. But it sure is useful (as long as you're not trying to write code, that is).

It could work without the keys that are just simple accent replacements. Also the symbols are mostly fluff in my opinion. The important subset would be the remaining "real" characters:

Q (Ä) W(Å) T(Þ) Y(Ü) P(Ö) L(Ø) Z(Æ) M(µ) <(Ç)

I guess even 9 keys is quite a few.
