Japanese board with Linear Green Alps, AFAIK. Lovely keycaps. They have the cruciform stem.
Very nice Oobly, I might get one.

I snipped the "keyboard" a pair seconds ago,
It looks if it has some cherry clear mx switches in it (I want to harvest them).
Also on the top of the thing it looks like a cherry g84 ML switch keyboard.

If somebody want the round shaped keycaps for a special projekt (like a keyboard with a trackball in his mid and the keys around the trackball, just my imagination :D ) or the case of the "thing" you can PM me.

When I have the board (I don´t know if the seller ships with DHL, maybe it takes a bit longer) I post some pictures in a other thread, because I have never seen such a board with mx switches in it.

You wont regret it, cherry ML are way better than people say

I wanted ever try a cherry ML keyboard. There are always people that say a switch is worse, like the cherry MY switch. I owned a typewriter with cherry MY switches (Black and Clear) and it wasn´t like typing on "wet newspaper", I liked it. Also the MY switch have the benefit that no keycap wobble because they have a really large slider.

older MY are way better than modern ones

modern ones are totally different :)

The capslock should be centre-stemmed as well IIRC.

Here's a Model F AT if someone wants to try and snipe: http://www.ebay.com/itm/171845699186 (shipping kinda sucks at ~$32)

I got the TI board! Thanks everyone for your help! (If you didn't bid on it, you helped.) :-P

I'm going to see if I can head down there today to pick it up. Otherwise it will need to wait until next week.

I really hope it is Hall Effect - watch it be foam and foil instead.

Yep they are Green Alps SKCC. I have the Chinese version. Hopefully I can get it working with a rigged up RS232 to USB controller.

That's a good price too, I'm still thinking about getting one. Alps SKCC are sweet.

Why get one, when you can get two for very slightly more shipping? That's true in the US at least.

Order direct at:
http://meci.com/nib-ibm-japanese-letter ... 12884.html
http://meci.com/nib-ibm-chinese-letteri ... 13442.html

Or just send them an e-mail for a larger order. They've worked with DT folks before. ;-)

Oh - and thanks to Touch_It for the Tipro board which arrived today! I owe you photos. But there are other errands I need to perform at the moment!

Did you grab the texas instruments board XMIT? I cancelled my snipe on it.

Oh sad. :(

Maybe send me a PM and I can send you mine. Same $25 price but maybe my shipping rate is less. Mine is new but out of the box. I do still have the original box.

I've been meaning to order another anyway. I want to get a Chinese and a Japanese together if I place another order.

I did! Thank you :!:

I'll get photos as soon as I get the board. I've already sent mail to Goodwill to give me a quote for $0 shipping and pickup instructions.

That's great.

Arrrgh I'm still mad at myself for not grabbing that RAFI at $20 BIN

Which RAFI?

The DIN5 hall effect board mentioned in this thread earlier. XMIT also has it I think.

Posted: 03 Jul 2015, 19:54
by XMIT
Do you mean the really junky Hall Effect one from Montana that I picked up a while ago? The same seller also had a blue ovals board. I picked up both at a really absurd offer price and benefitted from combined shipping.

I was looking forward to taking apart that RAFI board as a relatively low risk experimentation board for the wiki and for my own experience. I may be willing to part with it after restoration is complete. It's in kind of rough shape: scratchy switches, some damaged key caps - and does need some love.

D'oh. Let me know if you're interested in some auction and I won't bid on it. I owe you one at this point.

I see. I'm interested in any post restoration updates. Don't be stressed, you owe me nothing and the board is all yours, for now ;)

Didn't you say the switches are smoother than vintage black?

Posted: 03 Jul 2015, 20:03
by XMIT
Oh, the switches are about as smooth as anything. You don't press down on anything but a spring. Maybe there is a tiny bit of parasitic drag but not much. It really bugs me that Enter has a super heavy spring - that's something I need to change.

dzhoou: You win a $20 credit in the Keypocalypse store for being awesome. :-D That's most of the way to a Space Invaders board, or all of a newer PS2 M122 with some missing keys. (Before shipping of course.)

by dzhoou
Thanks a lot, I'm flattered! As I have a shortage of room space due to Model F's, I'll hold on to it till something exotic shows up :)

Were you referring to two different boards, the "junky" and the DIN5? because you said the switches are scratchy first.

Posted: 03 Jul 2015, 20:16
by XMIT
Yeah, I have two RAFI Hall effect boards. One is the one I won in the auction for something like $20. The other is the nearly new one that I purchased from webwit for, well, rather more than $20.
