I know the Amiga 1200 floppy drive was pathetically quiet. I don't know what the Amiga 600 floppy drive was like, and whether it was anywhere near as nice as the one on the A500.

I never had one. My Amiga friends dropped it the moment the platform died (without even trying to hawk me their old hardware) and turned PC gamers. (Back when that meant MS-DOS, rather than Windows.) They were all gamers, naturally. The Amiga was the hottest platform for them for a while, way ahead of consoles in specs and looks before the PlayStation.

Oddly enough, they're the ones still playing core games on Windows today. More stalwart than the like of me that they joined during their forced exodus. I gave up gaming already by the time I left the PC.

Amiga 500: best-sounding floppy drive in the world. Those two long thin LEDs were nice too. The A500 was magic. At least it was to me as a kid.

One of those rhythms I can't get my head around, and so can listen to indefinitely!

Clearly this is fake. The label says MTV, they don't play music there.

Just caught up on the last six months of thread action here. Lots of neat sounds!

Spoiler:
Truly funky; I especially like the multitudinous rim clicks.

Here's my 'on repeat to get coding done' tune of choice this week. Enough monotony to let me tune out, enough variety to keep me from getting bored.
Got tipped off to it, as to so many nice tunes, from the impressively wide-ranged radio show BeyondJazz.

Tack sharp percussion, and just as perfect flute:
I do like a little flute…

Dang, I searched the thread first too! Guess I didn't say the name that time either. Must search by YouTube slug instead. Ah, internet!

Bonus Eddie Roberts instead:

I have a hard time taking seriously songs that have lyrics like "girl you stank - take a bath" 16 times in a row (before repeating again) or repeating lines like "you fuck around get smoked you fuck around you fuck around you fuck around get smoked, nigger".

And this is my image of a real man:

(great... now I'm imagining Cary Grant with that pipe, saying "you fuck around you fuck around you fuck around get smoked, nigger".)

I don't see the issue here. He's clearly just concerned for her personal hygiene. He later warns his friend to leave posthaste and warns her of the nearby cannibal (who is particularly fond of smoked meats).

Or maybe I'm wrong. Maybe he's offering her a nice Islay.

Edit: typo!
