Sarcasm? I was actually going to comment on how terrible retro looks. Those awful thin legends... I'm really glad I didn't get those.

With all this business about legends I'm glad I ordered blanks

I;m in the middle with the Retro alnum keys. The legends are not perfectly visible, but much better than in the pictures from SP.
I will finish most of Retro today and can start with Noir on Saturday.

Maybe the Retro's aren't perfect, especially looking at individual keys, but let's see how they look as a set on a Filco. I'll post pics as soon as I get mine. I got the Retro Sym. I think they'll look awesome on a keyboard. I got the whole 104 key set and the only decent full size keyboard I have is a Bluetooth Filco Majestouch, so I guess I'll put them on it.

not being sarcastic at all. i like the light blue color a lot. i dont see the stroke weight of the legends as a problem, yet again I not a fan of giant legends.

I hope the Symbols (RETRO STDRGBYSYM) look like the preview image.

A little bit thinner and a little less contrast and the tab key must be redone because the legend is too thick and too large.

So there will be a delay for anyone who bought retro because of the tab?

Any pictures of Round 3? Are the legends ok on those?

I just got an e-mail for round 3 mistakes.
What are the other mistakes... Off the top of my head, I can remember.
- Backwards look of disapproval.
- Off-center stepped capslock.
What were the others?

Thanks, but I was just saying I got the invoice, I was just wondering what the actual mistakes were. MODIFER ORANGE and STANDARD.

May I ask where did you get the Bluetooth Filco? I can't find a damn thing about them online besides people's initial reactions to Diatec's announcement. Japan only?
Wireless is the way of the future. (Ideally with USB support included alongside, and battery charging over the USB jack.) I'm itching to see it done right with quality keyboards at last. Especially the 60% form factor.

Does it mean 4-6 months waiting time?

No, don't think so.

I don't seem to have anything like as many 'Pcs' as I was expecting...
Code: Select all
R3X/NUMERIC |Round 3 replacements(18) | 0.00| 1| 1| 0.00
R3X/STANDARD|Round 3 replacements (190)| 0.00| 2| 8| 0.00
No idea what the numeric one is!
So 'standard' covers the caps locks etc with stems in the wrong place, for the standard kit.
What about 6u space bars? (standard, dark grey and transparent).
What about dark grey and transparent blanks? (just full-touch caps locks, I think).
I'll have to go over the kits again later to see exactly what I thought I would be getting.

0 was too far to the left on the 2 units, row 4 numpad 0-key.

I used a buying agent six or seven years ago to buy it for me from Diatec and send it to me. They were always Japan only. Something about them not being FCC regulation compliant. Mine has great range and a set of AA batteries lasts for months and months.

Six or seven
years ago? Yikes. So much for the future at Filco!
I get a few months out of the pair of AAs in my little Apple TKL too. Bluetooth's a perfect match for keyboards. Well, so long as you've some breathing room on 2.4 GHz. I know it's not so easy for everyone's environment.
Mice, meanwhile, send far more messages over the protocol. That's the nature of the beasties. Lag is much more familiar with them, range nowhere near as good, and battery consumption takes a real hit too. My keyboard's little Magic Mouse compadre was going through its pair of AAs almost once a week. My solution was
one of these. Nowhere near the hurry for the keyboard equivalent in inductive chargers.
It honestly surprises me just how absent wireless is in mech keyboards. Guess it's down to finding the Bluetooth answer to the Teensy and making them ourselves.

You are probably right. Not long ago I had a real burning desire for a bluetooth HHKB Pro 2. That's still my dream keyboard.

I see. I hadn't noticed that one.
On my list I've got:
STANDARD:
- caps lock full touch -- incorrect stem
- caps lock stepped -- incorrect stem
- control (for caps pos) full touch -- incorrect stem
- control (for caps pos) stepped -- incorrect stem
BLANK:
- caps lock full touch with offset stem -- incorrect stem
SPACENEWBLACK -- incorrect stems
SPACENEWGREY -- incorrect stems
SPACENEWCLEAR -- incorrect stems
COLEMAKBACKSPACE:
- backspace for caps pos stepped -- incorrectly sorted, received r2u150 instead
I know the last one wasn't an SP mistake, but I recall you saying you were missing the r2u150 keys I got - have you got any stepped colemakbackspace so we can swap?
Those 6u space bars are the most important to me - have you got them?

- STANDARD:
- caps lock full touch -- incorrect stem no
- caps lock stepped -- incorrect stem yes
- control (for caps pos) full touch -- incorrect stem yes
- control (for caps pos) stepped -- incorrect stem yes
BLANK:
- caps lock full touch with offset stem -- incorrect stem no, only center-stem available
SPACENEWBLACK -- incorrect stems yes
SPACENEWGREY -- incorrect stems yes
SPACENEWCLEAR -- incorrect stems no
COLEMAKBACKSPACE:
- backspace for caps pos stepped -- incorrectly sorted, received r2u150 instead yes

What was the other incorrect key in STANDARD then, to make the 4 pieces? Or do you mean that you haven't got them replaced?
(For both caps lock and control full touch, I meant also with offset stem - the full touch centre stem ones were ok).
I definitely have blank keys here that are row 3, for the caps pos, which have the stem stuffed right up against the end. They were meant to be 'something'!
What do you mean SPACENEWCLEAR 'no'? They are definitely incorrect

The full-touch keys were a big mistake anyway.
I only have stepped Caps Lock and full-touch Control.
I did not get any SPACENEW replacements other than what had been ordered during Round 4. So there is no clear SPACENEW available.
THe drawing as the wrong way round. I don't remember the complete story, but this was not SP's fault.
I can't remember they messed up the blank keys. I know there where in-stock-blanks missing.
There are also no Starcraft keys, BTW. They are not allowed to produce them anymore so we don't get any replacements.
Posted: 28 Apr 2013, 14:13

The SPACENEW drawing was the wrong way round... BUT... what they made didn't match it anyway!!! The stems were again stuffed right up against the ends, and that part of it was definitely their fault.
I wanted to check all these things long ago, but you would not discuss it. All you said was something like "SP have agreed to replace the mistakes". No more detail than that. Perhaps a correct SPACENEWCLEAR could've been added to R4 at a price I would've paid. No chance of that now, obviously, and the price for me to order just those direct from SP would be ridiculous
