Just curious, why would it sell for such a price when
this at $1000 is there, unsold, for months now?
Other than people getting carried over in a bid war, I can see no reason. If I was willing to spend near 1k, I would just buy the one I linked. It is in way better condition and is more interesting/rare.

Because people go crazy when it's an auction. One like that sold for $1999 NIB. I'm sure it'll hit at least $800-1000 used.

there is some truth to that. Crazy "bidding wars" could happen.

Chzel-After speaking with the seller and from what I've gathered from his description, he seems to have bought it NIB and used it a year or two and not in an industrial environment, so it is very low mileage, one owner too. Admittedly my factory-customized SSK up on eBay probably had more wear and tear cosmetically, including some scratches. So I was thinking this one may reach or exceed my list price.

sure it could reach or even top that, the fact that it's an auction is the wildcard. Did he say why the ibm logo is gone if it's so "low mileage"?

The other NIB IBM had no logo either. I assume that this particular variation of SSK did not always have a logo.

Absolutely dreadful. Mushy ans scratchy. I dumped mine.
How do you know they are (i) MX compatible and (ii) doubleshot?

Yup, but you can see the MY switch and that shine one the caps makes abs more likely imho.

There was a thread regarding Gabriele typewriters somewhere, give me a minute. But apart from the color, they're identical to the ones of 9009 Gabrieles.
Edit: Fml, can't find it anymore. Guess I better edit my previous post and get the typewriter myself. :/

Don't think it was that one. IIRC, someone made a remark regarding the 7007 without additional letter (L/DS) having island keycaps and so on. But that might just be my mind playing tricks on me. Sorry if I caused any confusion. But if I get the typewriter, I'll tell you which switches are hidden underneath those caps.
Ok, got a picture sent to me. Had it correct that the switches are MY, so MX mount is confirmed. Can't tell yet if ds or not, will know by next week when the typewriter arrives. Bought a different one, so someone grab the one on ebay.

It seems that the monitor is CGA designed for the Hercules card:

Yeah, a lot of bother for a crummy experience. I used CGA on a black and white monitor (actual white, some already old Amstrad) for a while on our family's first PC back in the 80s. Real cramped, huge text, but not especially readable, and I could hear the signal thanks to some dodgy circuitry. Not a time I look back on kindly.

OR: throw the complete shit out of the monitor case, add a lcd. And in the empty space... a microatx board or raspberry.
Then combine it with a SSK or another vintage ibm board and you have a really cool retro looking setup.
oh wait, I wanted to do something similar with a Dolch Pac... never happened
