Rare case + rare keycaps = ridiculous show off item.
And I’d rather not mention the box.

Perhaps, but ranting felt good

By the way, all those obscure switches (with special lube added!) people are so proud of remind me of gold faucets.

Nothing obscure about MX blacks, rumour has it they're still in production. At this point numerous alternatives both vintage (space invaders) and modern (insert "UHMHPE" Durock recolor here) handily beat them.
Only reason I have any is because I like the boards they came it. If I had the time and mental strength to swap all of them for meme switches like Machos I'd have ~10 boards worth of ViNTaGe BlACks up on mehmarket and multiple second degree burns on my hands.

I know, of course. It was kind of a reference to all the switches people seem to be so eager to use to replace the original ones found in rare vintage stuff after they have botchered it, and on which they apply lube - not just lube, of course, but THE special lube about which they drool as if they had put it on their own teeth instead of switches in their boards.
So they replace the (admittedly dreadful, but original) MY switches of a venerable "industrial" G81 Cherry NCR board with MX blacks, but not simple MX blacks, no, it must be vintage MX blacks which are said to be much smoother than the more modern version. And then they apply lube, because of course even vintage MX blacks are not smooth enough for such a rare NCR board, and they put flashy keycaps on the switches - thankfully a blood-stained "artisan" skull keycap seems not to have been at hand.
So now they put the mutilated corpse to rest in the box of a modern Cherry board which has nothing to do with either the NCR board or any vintage MX blacks, take a pic of the embalmed mummy in its sarcophagus - and proudly post the whole disaster.
What a mess!

But lube for vintage MX is not to make it just smoother but to mainly mute the ping, housing wobble(stickering), and the annoying sounds that the stem makes, a very light application of 103/107 mix is ideal and maintains the good characteristics of the switch, without making it sound like typing on mashed potatoes mixed with gum. MX isnt a superior switch out of the box like Topre is
It was cheaper for me to use vintage blacks from a G80 board as i already had several on hand and each one was under $50 when i bought them a few years ago. It would cost more money to by modern MX blacks anyway. The boxes were free from Cherry, but yeah i should probably find an unmarked plain cardboard box.

MY switches deserve to be trashed, and the NKRO support offered in select old PCBs and all the new ones brings these boards to meet or exceed modern standards. Not sure the red sublegends go well with the grey case, but I'm sure you'd be using the NCR dyesubs if you had any.
Honestly I'd rather see OG Cherry tributes than washed up Korean customs (all the reliability problems of a board from 1989 only it was made in 2013?) with parts stolen from multiple NOS boards and some "period correct" artisans.
It seem hypocritical to say they're 'stuck' in 2013 when all the stuff I buy is old crap, but people used to use vintage blacks and OG keycaps because those were the only options. Once DCS was available people ran with that instead. Old artisans are historically significant, but grossly overvalued. A lot of those creators got a lot better at molding and sculpting and are known for their rarest (and often most basic) work.

Rest assured, the two NCR 3077 cases i got did not come with anything but the case, i didnt tear a full one apart, but replacing the MY switches with a MX PCB, and soldering the original cable is a must do heh.

I have one NCR 3077 with the original caps on it, but the other two i have are from some recycler on Taobao and came only with the case, so i just built a cable for it and threw in a PCB, switches and caps on it, if ePBT made a NCR replica set that would be pretty cool. The PCB mount typing experience in these G80's is just great, not too harsh on the fingers at all.
Im not a huge fan of most aluminum customs at all, but the only ones im a fan of are the ones from OTD (probably the ones your referring to

)

Lots of cool stuff in this thread but I don't think I've seen a double shot space bar let alone a triple shot one.

New office baby.
It's a GMMK TKL I got from the Black friday on amazon for a very good price. It's Hot Swap and ISO, switches are Kailh Pro Purple. This keyboard was intended for the /dev/tty keycaps I'm waiting, but a few days ago I got this Tai-Hao. It's so hard to find ISO IT sets of such a good quality (and so cheap)!
I already love it:
And those are the old office babies >_>

Ayy, we got the same desk mat! Although mine has seen better days... Multiple slashes from opening things on top of it, some fraying, and Australia has almost disappeared!

My Honeywell microswitch battleship! A dedicated post on this bad boy will be made soon. It's from the late 70s and even has a solenoid.

It was tucked away in a closet, wrapped in plastic for what I assume has been a very long time lol

Very good looking boards, love the cap mixing you've done on the Siemens. All you need is to get them converted.

And some Siemens keyboards! The one with more colorful keycaps is something I pieced together as it was missing half the original keyset. These switches feel amazing.
Great taste in keyboards, between smith corona leaf springs (smoother than vint blacks btw) and your secondhand s*emen boards.

The variation that are in these boards feel like the most modern feeling vintage switch I've ever tried. They feel scarily similar to holy pandas, and even sound similar.
