Why not go all in for UK ISO!?
Ah, thanks, you're probably right, now I understand how it was meant.

GB legend will be pad print on corresponding US layout keys. This was done to reduce number of keys in set and save on cost while still providing some minimal support with another 'correct' ISO layout option.

In the future I may do this again with other language like DE. This will be the cheapest way to offer other language support in sets while still making MOQ possible.

Wow, this set will be very nice mixed up with SkiData caps!

Yes, I think we have seen by now that it's impossible to get anywhere near GMK MOQ with European national layouts. We don't need to even talk about that.

It is just having two \| keys on lSO keyboards that will look strange. I think it would be more consistent here to have the \| legend on the front for the row 4 key (as it it the UK layout) and no legends on top in this case. Would look better to me.

It's really a minor thing though. You probably have a price quote from GMK already, so I can understand if you are not willing to change anything at all any more.

Good luck Ivan. Not my preferred legend layout, so I won't participate, but I think you'll hit MOQ :)

Thanks for pointing that out. Having two \| keys is going to look at bit odd isn't it. I don't know enough about all the different ISO keyboard layouts to understand why that row C/3 key has to be like that but I suppose Ivan has deliberated over it and there is a good reason...

It's a real shame that GMK can't do some smaller MOQ runs of European layout specific keys alongside larger orders like this. After all, they are a German company!

Please consider having the extra \| and # ~key for us UK orders, really am not a fan of blanks (had to put up with it for so long) and yet we are so close to an ACTUAL iso release (the previous all dark gmk had a perfect layout!).

Even a pad printed one wouldn't be bad. Please consider, happily put an extra $15-$20 on top!

I think we shouldn't even start discussing adding anything to the base pack. The majority of buyers in this group buy will still be people using US ANSI, and with this fact in mind, the base pack is already a major concession toward ISO users as it is, and I'm grateful to every ANSI user who supports it. The frontal pad printing to accomodate UK ISO is a good compromise IMO.

Yes. Dolch and Skidata have the same dark grey.

I'm waiting for the CMYW modifiers from Dubgalores GB, and tinnie's F-Row windowed caps to round up the SkiData caps, but i don't really know now if i should buy a Dolch replica set.

I understand this, but 1 key difference? Especially considering Ivans last key setup was perfect just confused why he was changed it so much as dolch well meet minimum easy.

Perhaps a COLOR pack for your Skidata sets? Perhaps it's not everyone opinion but I think cyan and orange look fantastic together!
Dropping those dedicated GB keys dropped the price, and getting the price lower will always help attract buyers even if it is not by a large amount. Now I could probably have gotten it under the $100 mark I was trying for if I wholly abandoned all ISO completely... but I didn't want to do that. An ISO board will still get a fully legended set with US and GB as sideprint still included by default in all sets so there is no danger of ISO not reaching MOQ and being cancelled. I think this is a good compromise solution to keep in that support while making the price better.

Don't get me wrong Ivan I am extremely grateful you think about us ISO users and this is the closest I will likely ever get to ISO Dolch so its worth a shot to ask, its because its so damn near close its annoying to have two \¦ keys. How much would an extra key have added to the price out of interest?

Posted: 25 May 2014, 18:39
by IvanIvanovich
I understand what you mean, but US ISO does have the \| key near the enter. Since the top legends are US this was done for consistency and for those few of us that may want to put a Dolch set on something like a 2550. In either case there would be redundant legend appearing elsewhere whether its \| or ~ # so I don't really see what difference it is.

Nice set, and props for the ISO!
Still kind of new to mechanical keyboards, but would the spacebar fit the Leopold fc700r?

Posted: 29 May 2014, 18:46
by IvanIvanovich
No Leopold use odd spacing on their spacebar stabilizers from pretty much everyone else on the planet. You could always modify your Leopold plate to fix it permanently to the common standard everyone else uses.

I have ordered the Base and color set. I am still considering if I should go for non standard key caps, for my keycool 84.

The ODD pack certainly increases compatibility a great deal with a lot of keys that have not typically been offered in any previous groupbuys. If such kits don't make it this time it is far less likely I will attempt to offer it again in the future. For those that can afford the add ons I would recommend them.

Last day for orders.

If sets have not met MOQ already assume they will not. If you have ordered based on something being made which will not please feel free to make cancellations now by marking item quantity ZERO in the order form.
If you are unsure what you ordered or would like to make any changes please resubmit the form now while it is still available to do so. I'm going to begin preparing invoices tomorrow.
If you wish to make any changes to your order once your invoice is received, make sure to notify me BEFORE you pay the invoice. This includes any changes to order quantities, add/remove items or if you would like to add extra insurance or express shipping to your order. Otherwise all orders will be sent uninsured by first class which is the default shipping bill. Once you pay your invoice your order will be final.

Invoicing is began. It will probably take me some time to get through all the orders so don't worry if you haven't received invoice on today.
