What, wingnuts you mean? I've always been indifferent to the design, and I cannot get into silver and gold paint. It was like the toy money we had as kids — coins made of plastic! I struggled with the idea of toys — nothing was ever real, just plastic imitations of reality. That's what wingnut keycaps resemble to me — the cheap plastic artefacts that kids get tossed instead of being allowed access to the real world. They're crying out to be cast out of solid metal.

If I were going to flaunt something, it would be my Psion 5mx, but even that let me down bigtime (managed to flatten the batteries and lose all the data while connected to the mains). I see no sense in flaunting anything any more — I'm not worth having anyway.

But I have to agree with tinnie — if you're too far from the centre of the human bell curve, you just have to bite the bullet and go gay.

I'm a "newb" here at DT and have hardly any posts, no real contributions to speak of and from the U.S.A. But I did slept at a "HOLIDAY INN" last night.

Oh yeah, I got a Wingnut too...

No Cherry keyboards handy so you'll just have to settle for a Kishsaver and the prototype cap sense controller :D

Hmm...
Well it works!
  • There are still a few bugs left that sometimes require an Oscilloscope to fix.
  • Some PCB layout issues left.
  • Key layout mapping is not ideal
  • Testing on a Kishsaver and Model F 122 right now, but should work for any Model F with a ribbon connector (Model F XT would require cutting traces and soldering wires)

Besides the Kishsavers, a winged nut turned up in my mail today. Hooray! Pictures when there's light.

I hope Mr. Beardsmore's arrived today as well. Happy birthday Daniel. The perfect present!

What wingnut?

I got a box of Christmas-coloured doubleshots, but I'd actually completely forgotten it was my birthday until someone reminded me. Another year of my miseryguts on planet earth, eh …

It certainly does.. especially because none of those keyboards there will work on an SE-30.

Indeed. But the SE/30 doesn't work either. (Simasimac!) So I'm thinking of popping a Mac Mini inside instead. That little sucker's got an SSD, Core 2 and Bluetooth as well as USB, so should make a remarkable compact! Especially as I never use optical discs anyway, so wouldn't need to cut a wider slot.

But from what I've read it's hard or even impossible to use the SE/30's original CRT. Modders forever pull it out and put in either an LCD or another, fully greyscale, CRT. Hmm…
