Model M with trackpoint and industrial shell has a crack.
Model M 122 key has a crack and is missing keys.
The old Cherry-keyboard's space bar was down, but seems to have survived.
The Hall effect keyboard survived, but is missing one key.

It is a bad idea to pack so many keyboards into one package without next to no bubble wrap

There where some heavy metal model F keyboards in the package, so the plastic cases has no chance to survive undamaged.

Rock, paper, Model F. No contest…

What bugs me is that is was fossala who sent me these and not some unknowing guy to whom these are only electronic trash.
The packing would have been suitable for a few lightweight keyboards, but lightweight plus heavy weight in the same package does not go well together if there is not enogh package material between them.

That's indeed really weird. He should've known better/probably wouldn't have sent them like that.

Maybe someone else packed and posted them for him?

Seems like you need to be extra careful when shipping model Ms

Sounds like the problem here was several heavy keyboards rumbling about in the same box. Each of them needs a bubblewrap jacket of its own, as they will always jangle about a bit in transit.

I've nothing against ordinary bubblewrap compared to the bigger bubble variety, they're both fine and surely better than the air-bag style stuff. The idea is to keep things apart, no matter how the box has been thrown around. The more bubbles, the better the odds of success.

I think that filing the box properly is key in all shipping. If something can move around in there it will get damaged and destroy the packaging so that potentially everything ends up rattling in a corner of the box. I usually shake the box violently to check if anything can move around. If it can I need to pack firmer. I like bubble wrap as it is shock resistant and traps the item so that it won't swim around in the box.

I ones got a keyboard mailed in just a brown paper bag from a seller. :-)

That's very weird from fossala :/
What's really amazing is how many eBay sellers completely ignore the packing instructions I send with each purchase.
Agreed. And they complain when you let them a negative rank as if we are too demanding (packing is a basic knowledge which even some so-called pros doesn't have)

Correct sir! This applies for model Fs as well though, their plastic case is stiff but brittle enough to break during handling.
M'er Forever wrote: 3) Wrap entire keyboard in 2 layers of bubble wrap -- use the large-bubble type, NOT the small-bubble type.
...
5) Fill all empty space in the box with additional bubble-wrap or packing peanuts to help prevent crushing.
Note to shippers: if you don't have bubble wrap and only peanuts, at least put the keyboard in a bag. Fishing keycaps out of peanuts is a stressing job (not to mention the ugly surprise when you take out the keyboard first).
