I confirmed with a couple of Chinese cherry collectors, they seem to agree that if you have one with scooped F/J, it's most likely thick PBTs!

Yep. I've only seen one exception to that rule.. which was a Compaq 1800 which had thick F and J caps, and the rest thin

I was also told, the last 3 figures of the Serial Number signifies the manufacture date of that particular keyboard,

This reads E18,which means it was made in year E, week 18, Cherry used A for 1988, so E would be 1992.

I do not have any experience with cherry PBTs, however the Topre PBTs are very slippery, and uncomfortable for gaming.
The filmsy ABS caps on the Steelseries have a much better grip.

Looking at the pictures I would say all of them are what I would consider "new type", going only by the logo. The exception is 07 and 09, those are old style.

I never felt a difference on Blues. Old or new, same feeling to me.

Clear difference on black switches though!

Nothing much to say about stabilizers (especially for Cherry ones).
Personally, i hate that.

It feels like be hit by 4*4 inch square wooden bar (directly into your skull center line).
It has own damping device (toe nail) though, it ruins the feelings. So, everybody cut it out. Right ?

Wyse stabilizers are almost the same situations (i mean, a head-on collision feelings/noise).
Because, it also hits bottoms (PCB) as in the Cherry ones. Nails? guess it have.

Majestouch-type. Yes, i prefer to it. Little bit of greasing, it is just perfect.
Several delicate inconsistency are found between brands though, it is ok. They are the boss.

Maje the 2nd (or the Linear or the Red ? whatever), they still have it.

Many of Cherry lovers have problem with their stabilizers.
So did i.

Wire-side has a hook (bigger hole) and non-wired has some kind of snapping shape (smaller hole).

So, when you dismantle the keytops (i mean NOT stabilizers itself), you must have do hook-side first. If you fail, you find yourself in an annoyance situation. You have to stop harvesting cherries. You have to plant it first. If you are more unluckier, you could break the hooks (i mean possibly). For beginners it feels like more than that. Really. I clearly remember, the only words in my head was just f*** four times. Sure, there is a plating rules too. You must plant a hook first... not that much happy..

Use my Crowbar. It can handle your lovely Cherry stabilizers 110% safetly. Promise !!!

( Reinvention reminds me of a Galápagos-minded copycat guru group. Who have very strict memberships, have raised their voices loudest to demand originality for 40% size boards AND tenkeyless boards).
